Anyone's toddler have HUGE tonsils?
My DS's tonsils are huge...pretty much touching. He hasn't had "infections" really but has a bad gag reflex and will vomit easily.
When I asked the ped they said toddlers "grow" into their tonsils.
He just had surgery and the anesthsiologist met with us after and was concerned about how big they were and said "they will have to go"
Meeting with an ENT this week but just wondering if anyone else has experience with this.

Re: Anyone's toddler have HUGE tonsils?
Yup. My son had kissing tonsils (that's what they call it when they touch) and very large adenoids. He was a loud snorer since birth! We brought him to an ent at 20 months and he had them removed at 22 months. Like night and day. As soon as he recovered he was a much better eater (because he couldn't really breathe well before) and no more snoring!

Yup, my son had kissing tonsils as well. He had them out when he was 2 years old with his admoids. Best decision I ever made. He started sleeping better and so rarely ever gets sick now.

Mine did, he had them removed much later (age 8). Our ped. didn't seem concerned, but the ENT said they needed to go. HUGE difference after they went.

Thank you...I am very curious to see what the ENT has to say.
Aside from the gag reflex and some speech issues (I never thought they would be related) he doesn't have issues. No snoring, good sleeper, etc

Anyone's toddler have HUGE tonsils?
my sons stopped eating solids because there tonsils got so big. The became failure to thrive. The ENT took them out but they both had a tough recovery - spent 2 nights in the hospital after surgery. They had theirs tonsils out at 2.5 and 2.75 years of age. but after it is all said done they are doing great now

Re: Anyone's toddler have HUGE tonsils?
My daughter's tonsils are a 3 out of 4. She just had the sleep apnea test done and it came back as severe obstructive and central apnea. We meet with the pulmonologist at Stony Brook Tuesday to go over the results. He will then send us to the ENT.
She got the regular cough that kids get with the change of seasons and occasionally got croup. The thing that concerns me is that she also stopped eating since this has happened back in August. I would yell at her all the time to eat, but realize now that she probably has a hard time swallowing although won't say that's the reason. She has lost weight and I just want her to be healthy.
