3 hr glucose test - side effects

Hi Ladies,
I don't post often, but I am due in January, and have to do the 3 hour glucose test tomorrow. Have any of you had any side effects after doing this? I know I had a headache after my 1 hr this past Saturday.

Nope, but make sure you drink water before you get there. My friend felt VERY ill after the 3 hour, to the point of almost fainting, and she passed (I passed, too). Good luck! I brought a pillow and my kindle and watched a West Wing marathon.

I did it for DS 1 and felt miserable during and right after - the drink has more sugar in it than the one for the one hour so it made me feel horrible.

I have a book that I'm half way thru, plus definitely bringing my kindle. Didnt even think of bringing a pillow, which is a great idea since ill be there at 730.
Thinking I might tell work that I will not be working tomorrow like I had planned.

I almost fainted a half hour after drinking the liquid. The nurse said it is a common side effect.

I just did the 3 hour last Saturday. I still get morning sickness (especially if I don't eat within 30 minutes of getting up), so I asked the nurse what would happen if I threw up the drink. She said the test would be void and I'd have to come in another day - talk about an incentive! The first hour and a half I felt like I was going to be sick every 5 minutes, but I made it through. I actually felt ok by the end of the test (I felt HORRIBLE after my one hour). My only side effect was the lovely bruises I have on my arms now, since they take your blood 4 times (and by the end I felt so dehydrated that I'm sure that's why I ended up with bruises).

Just got back from it a little while ago. They told me the same, if i throw up, i would have to come back. I have a headache right now, but just ate, hoping that goes away. They could only get blood out of one vein in my left arm which is now killing me! Other than that, feeling okay, thank goodness. And that drink was SO much more sugary than the 1 hour.

I had to do the 3 hour with my first. It was so boring and I was starving. I ended up puking a few hours afterwards, but I passed. I was allowed to drink water during the three hours so it definitely helped. Hopefully you can too.

I had no side effects, I went at 6 am and brought my iPad with a movie and a book. They gave me a private room with a niche recliner.

Drink water before you get there and a stick of trident to prevent dizziness.

Try to get there as early as possible. I got a late start that day and didn't get there till around 11, the "3 hour" test was really a 4 hour test because they first had to draw my blood, await the results from the lab THEN had me start drinking, which they only start counting the 3 hours from the time you finish the drink. I was pretty pissed to learn that. This was at Good Sam, not sure if this is standard for all labs.

By the time I was done with everything, I was feeling not so great. On the drive home (I was alone) I started shaking like a leaf and could barely walk into my house. I was really scared that I was going to pass out at home alone before I could get food into my mouth. I never did pass out but came very close, it was scary. If you can have someone with you, or at least someone to pick you up and drive you home, it might be a good idea.

I failed, BTW. Not sure if that had anything to do with it.
