Side effects: 1-hr vs. 3-hr glucose test
I am really scared to take the 1-hour test because I once took a 3-hr test and had really bad side effects. I was dizzy, nauseous, couldn't see straight, stomach churning.. It felt like a panic attack without the panic. How does the 1-hr test compare? I imagine it shouldn't be as bad. Any advice? Thanks!

why would you be scared to take the 1hr. At least you get to eat and drink quicker than the 3 hour. Or did you mean to write that the other way around.
My only side effect was nausea.

I never took the 3 but the 1 hour was no problem. I downed the drink which tasted like Orange Hi-C, noted the time and then made my way to my doctor. They took blood and that was that. No side effects. I don't remember what the time frame is but you don't even have to go that without eating before hand. I defintely ate lunch at a normal time and then had my test at 5.
I don't think you have anything to worry about.

Oh, I just meant because I had such a bad time during the 3-hr that I am afraid of taking another glucose test. This one is half the sugar, though, so hopefully, it won't be like the 3-hr. Just wanted opinions.

My only side effect was I did feel like a major sugar/energy crash after it. I felt kind super tired and like my energy crashed.
I was at work and made it through the day, it was ok and not that bad at all.

You don't have to fast for the 1 hour test, so you shouldn't feel lightheaded or dizzy. Just eat a normal breakfast. I did it twice and felt fine afterwards.

Thanks for the responses. I ended up getting no side effects from the drink. Well, except for it triggering my sugar addiction. Go figure! I got so Ill from the 3 hr, but this was nothing.

The one hour is definitely better - I felt so sick during the 3 hr one as well!!! I was so happy I didn't have to do it again when I had DS 2.
