FTWM pregnant with DC #2, 3....

If you are a FTWM with DC #1 in Daycare, will you continue to have DC #1 in Daycare while you are on maternity leave?

FTWM pregnant with DC #2, 3....

I'm a FTWM preggo with DC#1, but we've already decided that once #2 arrives I'll stop working and be a SAHM, financially it just makes the most sense for us.

Yes, for many reasons:

1) I want the time alone with the new baby while i'm on leave.

2) We need to hold her spot.

3) It will be GOOD for her to get out of the house and socialize.

4) It will be good for her to maintain her routine.

We never even considered taking her out.

My child is not in daycare but if she was I would keep it going as to not disrupt her routine

All three of my boys go to pre-school and will continue to go when I am home w #4 for all of the reasons that others have listed.

Re: FTWM pregnant with DC #2, 3....

I sent my daughter 2 days a week instead of her usual 4 days a week when I was on maternity.

It saved us a little money, but also gave me time with the baby, and her time to be with friends and have some sort of routine.

If I was to take my DS out of daycare I would either have to keep paying or lose his spot. Plus my DS is a handful so when I have #2 I will need the time without him.

My DS is in a pre school right now, I would continue to send him for sure, he needs that structure/routine and plus I think it would be beneficial to have the 1 on 1 time with the new baby.

I'm not sure yet - my DD will be 2 1/2 when DC #2 arrives and I plan on taking 6 months maternity leave - so she would be three going back. I think it would be ideal to keep her in, at least part of the time - just not sure we can afford it. Chat Icon

I'm not sure yet-the last month of my leave is unpaid so I'm thinking about switching him to just part time while i'm home and hopefully by then we're adjusted to life with the new baby. and can save some $$

Yes, we will keep DS in day care for these reasons, as well.

Thanks Ladies! I had the same thoughts as Bearcat listed but wanted to see what others are doing/did.

I would need to keep DD there so she still has a spot and I really don't want to break her routine. She loves "school" and has learned so much. Plus it would be nice to have that time to bond with #2.

my child is not in day care but I have been toying with the idea of enrolling once the new baby comes. I want him to start socializing with other kids since DC will be close to 2 by the time this baby arrives. It is important also to have bonding time with your baby I don't see anything wrong with that

Crashing.

DS 1 was at daycare part time 3x a week prior to having DS 2. I maintained the same schedule when DS 2 arrived. I figured it was easier to not have to transition again and to have some time to rest.

I'm glad you posted this because it's a decision I'm trying to make now...I hope it's not being selfish wanting to keep DS home at least part of the time. In addition to saving $$; i'll have to go back to work at 12 weeks and it will just be nice to have that time home with the two of them before the craziness of working starts again.
