When will they bring my baby in to my room post C-section?

When I delivered DDs, it was an emergency C, and they were in the NICU for 22 hrs. I wasn't allowed to go see them until the morning after I gave birth, and a few hours after that, I was finally able to keep them in my room.

When DS is born, if he makes it via scheduled C, when will I be allowed to finally bring him into my room? I like rooming in.
Let's assume he doesn't need the NICU. What are some of the things I need to do to "pass the test" as a mom?

I don't know, I'm in the same situation as with your dds, except he will probably be there longer in nicu. I think it would be based on if he is sent to nicu, and your mobility, they need to make sure you can carry him I think.

When will they bring my baby in to my room post C-section?

At Winthrop they brought my DS to my room as soon as I got into it. He never left my side from the moment he was delivered. The nurses changed all his diapers until I was allowed to get up the next morning

My DH was with my DS the entire time. While I was in recovery they went to the nursery to do all the initial tests etc. by the time I was in my room DH and Ds met me there.

Ds was then with me the entire time.

I had to get out of recovery first. So once I could move my legs and lift myself onto the gurney (they helped), I was wheeled to my room. My son came right to my room after. While I was in recovery, he was in the nursery getting cleaned up, his tests, etc.

When will they bring my baby in to my room post C-section?

Other than the usual testing they do on newborns, DS was with me the entire time. I held him as I was wheeled into recovery and he stayed with me there until I went into my room. The only time he wasn't in my arms was when they were stitching me up after he was born.

When will they bring my baby in to my room post C-section?

My DD was born at LIJ and breathing on her own but because she was 35 weeks it was an automatic trip to NICU. She was there until she could maintain her body temp. She was there for 9 days so rooming in didn't happen until she was home. Other moms had their babies in the recovery room before going to their floors.
At Winthrop they usually will bring your baby to you while you're in recovery (at least when I worked in L&D) especially if you are bf since they want you to bond right away.

Had a normal c-sect, I went to a recovery area for a few hours, DH was with me and they kept dd with us for an hour or so, then took her to the nursery. When I was brought to my room it was around 3 am. They asked me if I wanted her brought in. I said no because I was so groggy from the meds and had no idea what I was doing. They brought her back to me around 8 am...

Eta: I was not nursing or anything so she didn't need to be with me all times, they fed her formula while I was sleeping...

My dh went with each of my kids while I was sewn up and taken to recovery by the nurses. Once the baby was examined, dh not the nurses brought my kids to me in recovery.

This is so exciting, thank you. He will probably be born on time, and I'd be so happy to have DH with him waiting for me after recovery! Thanks, everyone! Chat Icon

I delivered at Stony Brook and my daughter never left me. We left the operating room together and I even held her as they wheeled me into the recovery room. They did all the tests and even the first bath in my hospital room. It was great.
