how do you count months pregnant?

Every time I google I get a different answer. How do you count how many months pregnant you are?

I've done it 2 ways but you get a slightly different answer but pretty close.

Let's say the first day of your last period (which was what they use to calculate your due date) was July 23... you can count from that... so on Aug 23 you'd be one month pregnant, on Nov. 23 (a week from now) you'd be 4 months pregnant, Feb 23 you'd be 7 months pregnant, and April 23 you'd be 9 months pregnant.

For this same person, their due date would be April 29 (since pregnancy is 40 weeks, not exactly 9 months). So the other way to say how many months you are is to subtract from that date. If April 29 = 9 months pregnant, then March 29 = 8 months, Feb 29 = 7 months, Jan 29 = 6 months, and so on, counting backwards.... in this case, you'd say you are 4 months pregnant on Nov. 29.

I think either way is fine & you get a pretty similar answer.

I always referenced it the second way the pp explained it.

I hate when people count the months every four weeks and then say that they are 10 months pregnant.

Example:
in Week 15 = you are in your 4th Month and Month 4 is in your Second Trimester
[ So - You have completed three months and are now into your fourth month ]

so frustrating
using 4 weeks, i'd be 6 months on oct 28
using months, i'd be 6 months on nov 13
using that site, i'd have been in my 6th month on oct 14 - going into my 7th month and 3rd tri tomorrow.

i'll stick with weeks! lol.

I never counted months, only weeks. It's too confusing any other way.

Months are 30 days not 4 weeks and that's usually why people get confused. SO you would could months like you would for any other timeline. Same with weeks (every 7 days).

Thanks everyone! I'll stick to weeks I guess. I'm either 4, 5, or 6 months depending on the method hahaha.

I always went by weeks. It bothered me that there didn't seem to be an official way to count months. I'd only say months (and I'd just use a really rough estimate) if it was a stranger or a man asking me.
