A school districts request for re-evaluation?
Can anyone tell me if this is the norm for a school district to request a reevaluation including psychological, social history and medical health records on a student?
I have the option of not consenting but would want to know if they accept a re-evaluation from a psychologist not involved with the school district.
Can anyone fill me in? TIA greatly!

My district re-evaluates every 3 years. I am not sure what would happen if I did not consent. The kids still qualified for their services.

A school districts request for re-evaluation?
Schools do re-evaluations every three years. We were asked to do ours a year earlier last year and they also sent us for a neuro psych eval because we were disagreeing on placement. We had to give consent to do the triannual early.

Re: A school districts request for re-evaluation?
Thank you again for your replies. I have another question on my sons IEP documentation it says that his reevaluation is projected for May 2015. Does it matter that they want it done so much earlier? I just feel like he just started a new school and class and still adjusting is it worth waiting to be fully evaluated? Would you question that as well?

May is right around the corner. They have to send out consents now because it could literally take months to get one back (and multiple attempts). It also can take a while to do the Evals, write them up then have the meeting. I'm an OT and I have 24 classified kids on my class load. I have annual reviews for all of them (I do done testing and write up a report). About 4 if the are up for Rhein triannirl so the will be thoroughly tested by everyone who treats the child plus get a new psych Eval. All of them have meeting in the spring. I usually start testing late winter.
Definitely sign the consent and get the updated testing. Children's areas of strengths and weaknesses can change over the course of 3 years. Plus it helps identify areas of weakness.
