ham and a turkey and maybe a lasagna
ok so on christmas i am thinking of doing a ham, a small turkey (at DH's request ) some sides and having my mother make a lasagna. do you think having all this in my oven will be an issue in terms of heat distribution and having everything cook properly? i don't have a double oven so everything will have to go in one. i don't do big meals very often so I'm not exactly sure how this will all go.
any help or suggestions from people who know more than i do would be greatly appreciated. also, what do you think of the following menu:
lasagna and garlic bread ham and turkey sides: roasted fennel, carrots and onions with parmesan cheese on top and a butternut squash apple cranberry bake. links: squash
fennel

I have no idea how all of that would fit all at once in one oven!
Here's what I would do. Invest in some sterno racks and get them ready.
Make and bake the lasagna the day before. On the day of, bring to room temp, put in a sterno rack and let it heath through.
The ham is pre-cooked, so I would heat that up the morning of, then slice and keep warm in a sterno. Reserve some of the cooking juices on the side for a little extra moistness.
The sides could be prepped the day before or day of, then reheated either in the oven or in a sterno.
Cook the turkey last on the day of so it's moist and juicy. Throw the garlic bread in and you're done.

My only suggestion is to do a turkey breast-not a turkey

For thanksgiving I brought a "roaster oven" for $30. It was great. Keep all the sides warm as the turkey and ham were in the oven.
Cooks just like an oven. Small enough to put on counter top. Using it again for Christmas. This way instead of stereos you can use it to actually cook the lasagna.

How many people are you having......are you sure you need all the "main" items. Or can you pick sides that do not need to be baked and can be done on the stove top.

Re: ham and a turkey and maybe a lasagna
On Easter, I do a ham, bone in turkey breast, lasagna, and sides.
I would have your mom cook the lasagna at home, wrap it in towels, bring it over... It will stay warm (assuming she's local) and then you can reheat it in the oven, but it won't be chilled. It can take forever to get warm in the center if it's ice cold from the fridge.
The turkey (or turkey breast ) should rest for 45 mins or so before you slice it, so you can take it out, let it rest, and then put the lasagna or something else in. The turkey doesn't need to be served piping hot (and if you do try to serve it while hot, the juices will run out and it will get dry). Hot gravy will warm up the turkey.
The ham is fully cooked and, IMO, doesn't need to be piping hot, either. Ham is a good main for a holiday because it's fine warm or even room temp.
I would try to make sides that you can make ahead of time and reheat in the microwave, or sides that can be made on the stove top or served cold (like a salad) or room temp. That way you are using your oven primarily for the mains.

Re: ham and a turkey and maybe a lasagna
you guys are so nice. thanks so much for all the good suggestions. i have decided to change course a bit and make things a bit easier.
first course: lasagna and garlic bread
second course: turkey ham catered-in potato croquettes, so all i will need to do is keep them warm salad (made by one of my guests)
thanks again for all the suggestions!
