I know it is ridiculous but sometimes I get so fixated on those silly ASQ milestone charts!!! I don't want the anxiety and I know I should just let it go but I get crazy about it sometimes. Anyone else?

Nope. never even looked at it. Just went loosely on what my Dr said should be going on.

I don't even know what those charts are. Chat Icon Chat Icon

I go by what my doc mentions at visits -- she asks questions and stuff. So far, so good. I feel like each child is a little different and it's so hard to go by a "standard" when each child is and should be unique in their own way.

Ditto. I am way too lazy and un-anal to look at any chart.
When they are all grown up and in college, nobody will remember or care when they walked, talked or took a dump on the potty.

I also don't know what that chart is. My Dr asks questions at their appointments and I say yes or no and if he's not concerned, neither am I. Also, every child develops at their own pace.

O gosh no.
My son has some developmenta delays so every milestone is a true happy mileston for us.

Other kids speak at a year.
I cried tears of joy when he first said "mama" at a late 2.5 years old.

When my twins were born I did.....But i also feel I was a little paranoid because they were born 2 months early. With my 3rd child I did not pay attention to any charts as I realized that every baby was different.

Re: Does anyone else get really caught up with the ASQ milestone charts?

I was obsessed with and overly worried about my DD with regards to those milestones. She was my first. If she wasn't doing a milestone, I got so worried.

Now with my second, I don't worry about those things at all. I haven't checked them at all. Not worth the worry!

LOVE this! Comes at a perfect time as DD's dr has me all paranoid she didn't have five words at her 15 mo appt and very likely won't at her 18 either. Sigh.

I never heard of these charts & it would make me too nervous because I know he's behind on lots of milestones. I try not to worry about it & just do my best to help him progress.

I have no idea what that chart is either. Every baby is seriously so different. Apparently I walked/talked/and was potty trained very early, my mom loves to bring it up and I'm always like "and where did that get me in life?!" No where ahead than someone who was potty trained at 3 or walked at 15mos instead of my supposed 10mos!!!
