How do you store them? Freeze them? I'd love to bake a bunch of different kinds but not sure how to go about it. Any experts out there?

But my MIL was a huge baker at this time of year and she would bake early and freeze everything in ziploc bags. They froze great.

OK forgive my ridiculousness but she actually baked the cookies then froze them? If so do you just thaw and eat? I feel like they would taste weird? OR did she just freeze the dough and bake closer to Christmas? TIA!

I don't freeze my cookies.
They get packed in tins with layers of wax paper in between and on top. Christmas Eve I pack them up inplastic treat bags inside of cookie boxes to give as gifts.

This. We pack in tins or Tupperware with wax paper. Also cut up apples on top of the wax paper help them stay soft :). We're doing our baking this weekend. Have already made about 30 dozen.

Yes she would bake and freeze once cooled. Then bring them to room temperature. Always tasted fresh

If you freeze the cookies, do you decorate them with icing before you freeze them or after they thaw out?

My MIL never did the iced ones. She made chocolate chip, pecan balls, peanut butter cookies, sugar cookies, the ones you make from the cookie press with sprinkles, etc
Not sure how the iced ones would work.

Bake, Cool, Freeze, Defrost.

As far as decorating I would decorate once thawed.
