My Jan 25th baby decided to be a December 23 baby!
Hi All,
I was due January 25th and my water broke on Sunday December 21st.....I went to the hospital and 43 hours later, I delivered my baby boy vaginally weighing 6 lbs 4 ounces...he stayed in the hospital for a week and came home last night and is doing great! 5 weeks early!
A few things to pass along after my experience:
PACK YOUR BAG EARLY - I had not done this and when I asked DH to bring me clothes and a bra, he brought my cute SMALLER bra from last year and the tightest shirt imaginable...not his fault and he tried, but I basically lived in the hospital gown for two days!
If you are doing CORD BLOOD BANKING - Get the kit EARLY on....I had just decided to do this and the kit arrived the week before. The hospital did not have any extra so I was lucky that it had arrived.....
EPIDURALS DO NOT ALWAYS WORK: I had to be induced because even though my water broke, my cervix was closed.....THE PAIN WAS TREMENDOUS and they placed the epidural two times before having to just administer me pain medication every two hours - it was like every two hours to the SECOND the pain would return and it was truly excruciating.
HAHA I don't want to scare anyone - this just took me by complete surprise and I had NOTHING DONE. My shower was the weekend before I went into labor so everything was in boxes, not washed. I managed to get it all done and it was WELL WORTH IT as I LOVE MY LITTLE GUY!
I also hired a birth photographer who was with me for both days of labor (she did go home overnight while the inducing was happening to get some rest) but it was AMAZING to have her there to capture all the pain, joy, tears and the eventual delivery of my baby boy!

DD2 was also a month early and we were not ready at all. The good thing was I realized how little we really needed. But yeah, the clothes my mom showed up with were pretty funny. I had to walk her and DH through finding each specific item while on the phone if I wanted useful stuff.
