Need lunch ideas for DH for work
My DH buys lunch in the city every day and spends a crazy amount of money on lunch each week. This year I really want to be better about making him lunches to bring to work to save money.
We usually eat dinner leftovers for dinner again so I don't have to cook dinner as much during the week (with a 3 year old and 10 month old), so I need other ideas for lunches.
So far I have sandwiches (cold cuts, or chicken salad) but that gets old really fast.
I need new ideas. I don't mind cooking/preparing on Sunday for the rest of the week.
What does everyone do for work lunches. TIa

I would just cook more (maybe double a recipe) so you have more variety of leftovers for both lunch and dinner. Soups and casseroles are good one pot meals for leftovers.
I buy the large container of mixed greens and add other basic salad veggies with a protien and this is my lunch 3x a week.

Re: Need lunch ideas for DH for work
I usually grill a whole bunch of chicken on Sunday and we take some variation of it for lunch each day: grilled chicken sandwiches, grilled chicken over salad, grilled chicken and pasta, etc.
I also like to do a big batch of soup or chili in the Crock Pot so that we can take that for lunch.

Sometimes I do a big batch of pasta with grilled veggies in garlic and oil...I can eat it hot or cold depending on how my day goes!
I also do a cheese, nut, and dried fruit medley some days (a bunch of pieces of different cheese, mixed nuts, and a bunch of dried fruit and maybe a sliced apple with crackers/melba toast).

Need lunch ideas for DH for work
I've been making things that freeze well and and freeze left overs in portions so I always have something to grab quick.
I've done chilli, chicken stew, baked mac and cheese with spinach, and tomorrow I am making baked ziti with spinach. If I make a pasta dish, that makes great leftovers. Homemade chicken soup is so delicious and freezes very well also.
My goal is to stop wasting money on takeout for lunch. I can't believe how much I spent!!

I take a big variety of stuff for lunch - leftovers, salads with either chicken or boiled eggs, bagel or whole grain bread with cream cheese and smoked salmon, sandwiches, PB and apple, in the summer fruit salad and yogurt. I keep packets of instant oatmeal in my desk, with some fruit good for lunch in a pinch.

Need lunch ideas for DH for work
DH and I stopped buying lunch out when we were saving for our house over 10 years ago so I know what you mean about sandwiches getting old. I agree with leftovers being the best lunch and it's easy to make a little extra. It might make sense for you to make things that can be converted into a second meal so he's not eating the same thing 3 times. Like making grilled chicken cutlets as part of a recipe, but setting a few aside for a wrap or salad for lunch. We've done wraps, big salads, Also making different varieties of chicken salad, sometimes I make it with avocado or cranberries. I will take leftover take out, like if we have Chinese food, I will save enough for lunch the next day. I will eat almost anything from home so I don't have to buy. My DH is a little pickier.

Re: Need lunch ideas for DH for work
Thanks for the ideas! My DH is a bit of a picky eater, but tacos, grilled chicken, and pasta salads are all things he eats that I didn't think of for lunch.
