Is Levittown water contaminated?

I was doing some research on levittown neighborhood before purchasing a house. I came across the Grumman plume toxins about Bethpage water contamination. Is, that the reason why levittown has cheaper house compare to other towns.?
I am really confused

Re: Is Levittown water contaminated?

I dont know about local water contamination but my theory on why prices are lower in Levittown is due to

1: high taxes (Levittown does not have as broad a commercial tax base as Hicksville/Westbury,etc)

2: most homes are built on slabs and dont have basements (Levittown got its name because the homes were known s "Levitt houses" and designed to house soldiers returning home from WW2, marketed to middle class Americans as the suburban American dream town, etc)

3: no LIRR station (like East Meadow residents, you have to drive to Bellmore or Hicksville LIRR stations to park)

4: lots of homes with cheaper price tags have Oil heat. Some streets do not have gas service.

Totally agree with the above poster. Also, a lot of Levitt homes are capes (or Levitt "ranches," which, for all intents and purposes, are also capes). While a lot of families like Cape-style homes, I thought the bedrooms on different floors would be problematic with babies/toddlers. That's partly why we ended up buying a ranch in East Meadow.
