C section ?'s
I had a c section with Ds, and as I'm nearing my repeat csection with DD , i can't seem to remember anything about DS' c section. I have an appt. the day before so hopefully I can remember to ask, but if not :
1. Did you wear your contacts during your c section? 2. How soon after c section were you allowed to walk around the hospital? 3. How soon after were you allowed to eat?

C section ?'s
I don't wear contacts so I don't know the answer to that one. DS was place in the NICU after birth so I had to get out of bed and into a wheelchair within the first 8 hours to go see him. I think I was walking within 24 hours of the surgery (not well, mind you). I was allowed to eat as soon as I was able to get up and walk.

C section ?'s
1. I did not wear my contacts I wore my glasses from second trimester on.
2. They kept me in those stockings for the first 24 hours and had me on an IV, and medication pump so I delivered at 2:30 on a Friday and did not go off those things until 5pm on Saturday.
3. I was on a liquid diet until 5 pm the following day then I was allowed to eat solids which sucked at LIJ by the way.

Re: C section ?'s
1. I don't wear glasses or contacts so I have no idea.
2. I was very sick with my second csec so I laid with the balloons for blood clots on my legs for about 12 hours. As soon as you want to get up and walk they let me. After my first csec I got up after 5 hours.
3. They brought food up about 4 hours after my csec.

C section ?'s
I wore my contacts. It was unexpected so I didn't even have my glasses with me but I don't remember anyone asking if I had contacts in.
Dd was in the nicu so I got up into a wheelchair within about 4 hours to go see her but I really couldn't fully hold my weight yet. I was walking to the nicu and back within 48 hours I think.
I had my surgery at 1:30am and was able to have a light breakfast in the morning.

Re: C section ?'s
1. Did you wear your contacts during your c section? Yes
2. How soon after c section were you allowed to walk around the hospital? Catheter came out at 12 hours post-surgery and I walked to the bathroom immediately.
3. How soon after were you allowed to eat? Right away. I started slowly but I was fine.

This. Plus since second time was a sched C the recovery was sooo much easier. I was up and walking that night I believe even before the cath was taken out. Remember to walk around as much as you can for the gas pains. That's the one thing that sticks out is the pains by the shoulder.
Good luck!
ETA - my sister wears contacts, but she didn't wear them for her C-section. Wore glasses.

Re: C section ?'s
- I wore my contacts in the OR, no one asked me if I was wearing them.
- I was able to get up when they took the catheter out, probably 18-20hrs later.
- I had to be on a liquid diet until the morning, again like 18-20 hrs.

Re: C section ?'s
1. Did you wear your contacts during your c section? No I wore my glasses for both CS
2. How soon after c section were you allowed to walk around the hospital? My first was an emergency at 4:30 PM so I did not get to walk around until the next afternoon. With my second CS it was much smoother since it was planned. I was the first scheduled that morning and they got me up and walking by 4pm so about 7 hours. It was a much easier recovery.
3. How soon after were you allowed to eat? after my first I had to wait until the next day. After my second once i was out of recovery I was slowly able to start eati real food. I had hospital food for lunch and dinner and by the next day I was eating Chipotle for dinner.

Re: C section ?'s
1) I don't where contacts so I'm not sure about that one.
2) I had two miserable C-sections but they had me up in a chair at the 12 hr mark and once the catheter came out at around 24 hrs, maybe a little sooner, they had me up and walking.
3) I wasn't on a liquid diet at all. I was able to eat at around the 12 hr mark but I ate lightly. A roll, some fresh fruit, etc. I could've eaten sooner but I was down and out for a while after my sections, I had a bad reaction to the spinal with both.

C section ?'s
I don't wear glasses so I am no help there :) I was up both times within 7 hours. The cath doesn't come out usually for 24 hours but I didn't wait. I was able to eat as soon as I wanted to (I think that was around the 4 hour mark). The 1st one was fine but the 2nd was sooo much easier. Good Luck :)

C section ?'s
I wear glasses, not contacts, and they were not on me at the time. I was walking the next evening very lightly, once the catheter was removed (and I was taken off the magnesium). I ate solid foods the following afternoon, with liquids (jello) that morning.

Re: C section ?'s
1. Did you wear your contacts during your c section? No, with both my cs I was told not to wear my contacts
2. How soon after c section were you allowed to walk around the hospital? DS1 I had at 10am, I had a spinal and was in bed all day, they removed my IV (pain meds) around 9am the the next day and I was able to walk. DS2 I had at 830pm, at 8am the next day the dr came to take my roomates epi out and I had them pull mine as well! So I was up walking around by 10am.
3. How soon after were you allowed to eat? DS1 I believe I ordered dinner that night he was born. DS2 I was without food soo long because I wasnt able to eat after midnight before surgery and they my surgery kept getting pushed so he was born at 830pm. By 2am I was starving so the nurses brought me crackers and such to hold me over until breakfast. Then I ordered breakfast!
Good Luck
ETA: Both mine were scheduled and I really had great experiences both times! I always suggest lots of walking, and getting as much sleep/rest in the hospital as you can, because we all know what happens once you come home!

Re: C section ?'s
I don't wear contacts.
I delivered at 3:02pm and the next morning at around 8am they took out my catheter and they got me up out of bed.
I was able to eat that night. The nurse told me once I was able to move my legs that I could eat.

Re: C section ?'s
I think I got out of bed very very slowly later that night (C-section was in the morning)
Food wise, I ate after I got put in the room - I think like 4-5 hours after the actual surgery (I was in the recovery room for an hour or two)

C section ?'s
I wore my contacts. They encouraged me to walk right away. I didn't feel up to it until the next day. A couple of hours later they let me eat jello and clear foods. The next morning I was able to eat real food (so about 24 hours total without real food)

Re: C section ?'s
perfect vision - sorry :( no answer for that one
it was a "when do you feel ready" type of thing - i forced myself to do it as soon as i felt i somewhat could. i pushed myself to do it b/c all of the ladies on here with prior CS experience told me, the sooner you walk, the better off you are even though it suuucks soooo bad - once you do it, it is much better
the eating was after recovery was done, when i was back in the room, i could eat right away. i didn't really feel like eating much until that evening and then i had a little something. i wouldn't eat that hospital crap so i had loved ones get me food that's not vile lol.

Re: C section ?'s
1) No,I wore my glasses
2) I was up out of the bed and sitting in a seat later that day...my c-Secrion was at 7:30am, and I think I was up out of bed in the seat probably around 3-4pm. The cath came out early the next morning and then I was up walking around.
3) I was able to eat when it was lunch time in the hospital. I think lunch they brought me ginger ale, chicken broth, and tea. Then for dinner I could eat anything I wanted. I was able to drink water immediately in recovery.
