If your child is going to make Communion this year...

My mom is going to get disappointed because this time around I want something super small. I've done the huge parties, fancy invites restaurants party tents entertainment and now just want something simple, intimate. Our families have gotten so huge and we don't see each other so often that is why I want to keep it small and not invite just to invite. Im curious if you have started thinking about your plans and what you'll be doing.

Are you having a party afterwards? Home or at a restaurant and are you keeping it small or inviting everyone?

We're having it a brunch at a restaurant and are inviting about 60. We did the same for our older DD. We keep it simple though...no entertainment at all.

We are having our first communion this year. Next year we have DD's.

We are keeping it simple and doing it at home. I just can't justify spending $5K + on a communion.

DS's is this year. We're doing something small - we were going to have a catered brunch at home, but have opted for a brunch at a restaurant - there is one near the church that is VERY reasonable. We're inviting 35 ppl.

DD is making her communion in May. We are going very simple and having a catered lunch at our house with about 25 people. Luckily this is the norm for our family and close friends in our area so it doesn't seem we are cheaping out! LOL

For those of you doing it at a restaurant, how long do you get there? Are you doing entertainment there? My DD isn't doing hers until next year but this post got me thinking about what I should do.

We had my DS last year. Our IMMEDIATE family and Godparents went to brunch afterwards. We are doing the same for my DD this year.

We are doing a party at a restaurant. 40 adults and like 15 children. We have a private room, and did hire a DJ, just to have something for the kids all to do.

having a restaurant party after communion...just family and close family friends. No school or religion class friends.
