Exercise
What do you all do for exercise? I'm a jogger but haven't been able to go in the cold weather. Does anyone know of any pregnancy fitness classes being offered in Nassau County? I'm not much of a yoga person but I would low impact aerobics.

I ran on the treadmill until 39 weeks, 2 days.
I know on LI there is stroller strides. My sister is 35 weeks and still doing it.

Exercise
I plan on either going back to the gym next week or walks at Norman Levy Preserve. I stopped once I started my FET cycle and have out on so much weight and bloat from the meds. I have to get my legs back.

Re: Exercise
I ran 3-4 days a week and took a bunch of hiit and bootcamp classes pre-pregnancy. I continued to run in my 1st tri but began spotting so my doc told me to go easy. But, if that didn't happen a few times, she was okay with me continuing my runs at an easy pace. I have since switched to walking, light weights and the Suzanne Bowen's Long and Lean prenatal workout. I wont lie and say these come close to challenging me like running but it's something!

Exercise
Maybe join a local rec center, JCC or YMCA. A lot of these places have small gyms, pools and offer classes. Lucille Roberts, too. We have a treadmill and small gym in our home. I realize that might be the best option for everyone but nothing beats having the treadmill in the house during the winter. You can also YouTube plenty of pregnancy home workouts and videos.

Re: Exercise
I've been doing What To Expect When You're Expecting The Workout DVD and I love it! You mix and match all the cardio and strength chapters to build your own workout based on what you're feeling.

Re: Exercise
I taught kickboxing, spin, toning and bootcamp circuit classes up until I was 20 weeks. Now I do prenatal yoga 1x/week, swim, walk on the treadmill, elliptical and still take the occasional spin or cardio class (just moidified). My Dr gave me the ok to keep teaching if I wanted to but it got a little tough so I stopped.
Honestly, swimming is my absolute favorite. Its sooooo good for you! You feel weightless in water so its less impact on your joints, plus its excellent for your back and core muscles.

Re: Exercise
I've been weight training 3x a week doing a pre-natal program created by a fitness competitor who just had a baby. The workouts are great and I am still lifting heavy and feeling great! I was doing cardio before pregnancy but I stopped as per the doctor. After speaking with a different doctor in the practice yesterday,s he told me to get back to it if I feel up to it! I can't wait!

Re: Exercise
When I was pregnant I continued all of my normal workouts -- Doc told me to wear a heart monitor and gave me a number to make sure I didn't go above.
The only thing he told me to oust was the elliptical - he didn't like the idea of the up and down motion. He told me to stay away from volleyball for the same reason - anything related to jumping.
So, I did spin class (had to really watch the heart monitor and I was fine), I had done spin for years prior so it was all good. I did the indoor pool at my gym - laps. I did the treadmill, a little jogging and tons of fast walking.
I remember it being my ninth month, almost 100 degrees - that summer we had a heat wave, and I was walking all over the neighborhood every single day.
I felt great. I worked out the morning of my scheduled CS. I never swelled - I have no proof of this but I swear it is because I kept active.
