House hunting help, please recommend your town!
Hi everyone,
My husband and I want to start house hunting for our forever home, but I am not from Long Island and really need help picking a few neighborhoods. We currently live in western Nassau on the south shore. We have a toddler and are hoping to have more children in the future so a family friendly neighborhood with good schools is really important to us. I would love to have more property/trees/privacy but I don't want to move too far out- would consider western Suffolk. My husband works off Route 110.
Can anyone recommend any towns to start our search? I really appreciate any recommendations.

I live in the Forest City section of Wantagh with Levittown schools and absolutely LOVE it! I'm up the block from the Forest City pool and playground. there are so many kids on my block and we are actually a community.

I live in Commack and would highly recommend it. It's definitely an easy commute to 110, schools are excellent and it's a very family oriented community

We live in Kings Park and love it! Really best of all worlds, reasonable priced homes, decent taxes, good schools, near a state park, has a main street and quick access to the LIE via the sagtikos pkwy

Re: House hunting help, please recommend your town!
I am an active agent that sells all over Long Island. I'd be happy to consult with you about your search -- no pressure or obligation. At the buyer consult, I not only go over your needs/wants, but also explain the overall buying process and answer questions you may have.
It's hard to make recommendation based on just the information provided. Your budget (both for price of the home and for taxes) and home criteria would heavily factor in to my recommendations for where you should look. Some areas, you may be priced out of completely, others you might be able to afford, but only if you get a smaller home. Maybe your budget is such that you can buy anywhere. But without knowing what you can spend on a home (or, more importantly, what you want to spend), it's hard to say what would be ideal.
You can always contact me directly - [email protected] or (516) 587-7618.
Good luck with your search either way!

It might be too far out for you but I live in Stony Brook (Three Village SD) and we LOVE it out here. You get a nice size house for your money and a good chunk of property. The neighborhoods are very safe and family friendly too!! We've been here almost 10 yrs now and we've been really happy in our neighborhood.

Re: House hunting help, please recommend your town!
I live in Malverne and love it. My husband also works off of 110 and it's about a 45-60 min driving depending on the time of year and traffic.
Malverne is one of those small towns that has that small town feel but seems to be forgotten or have a 'bad" reputation because of the mixture of kids that go to their H.S.. The town itself is beautiful, the village hosts many family geared events throughout the year, and it's a great location between the southern state and sunrise highway. All of the homes are well kept on tree-lined streets.
Kids in Malverne can either be in the Malverne School District or the Valley Stream #13 school district which would be Valley Stream North H.S..
