BTDT - Which pump? Opened or closed?
My insurance covers two pumps:
Medela Pump In Style Advanced (Opened system)
Ameda Purely Yours (Closed system)
Does anyone have experience with either of these? From what I am reading it seams like a closed system would be the way to go but at the same time almost everyone I know has chosen the Medela PISA...
Trying to understand the pros and cons of each.
Did anyone choose the Medela open system over a closed system, why?

BTDT - Which pump? Opened or closed?
Does your insurance cover the Hygeia Q Pump? My insurance covers that one in addition to the 2 you mentioned and its the one I'll be getting. Its a closed system and gets significantly better ratings and reviews than the Ameda one. Many people also prefer the Hygeia to the Medela PISA, as there are apparently 2 settings that you can control whereas the Medela has 1 controllable setting. Good luck!

I've had both and will never get another Ameda. The Medela works much better.

Nope - they only cover the Ameda and Medela.

You won't care about the cleaning - all that matters is how much milk you get. Medela generally has much better reviews than Ameda. I have a PIS and a Freestyle and prefer the Freestyle, but it isn't covered by insurance anymore.

I got mine through edgepark. I went to their website and put in my info and it gave me the options. It was really easy to order online through them and it came within a few days although I think it helped that I had a rx already from my ob.
To the OP, I like the medela PIS. I had an ameda hospital grade and did just as well with the PIS once I switched.

I called my insurance, they had me go through a different specialty pharmacy, not edgepark or one of the usual companies, it's a Cigna specific company.

LOVED my Medela, I used it for 20 months and it was still working as good as day 1.
