Infant Car Seats!
Hi all,
We registered this weekend - so fun.. and we chose the Chico KeyFit 30 Infant Car seat. Gets #1 for ratings for safety, etc, but my two best girlfriends that have 11 and 10 month old babies both say that the canopy is way to "short" and wont block the sun in both the front and the back during walks (and that a little extra blanket flung over the top never stays.)
So they said it's annoying enough to see if there are other infant car seats.
Anyone have reviews or opinions on the Graco SnugRider Elite?
TIA

I had the Graco SnugRide 35 and the canopy i found to be great and covered my son on walks and stuff. Although not so important I also thought the snap and go for the Gracco car seats steered a little better than the Chico one.

That's why I didn't get it. We walk a lot in the summer. I was really not happy with the Chicco canopy.
I did a lot of research and the Graco gets excellent reviews, but not as good as the Chicco. But consumer reports gives Chicco better scores in ease of use and honestly DH and I spent two hours in BBB and like the Graco better in this category. But we also really liked the Graco Modes stroller (at BRU) so Graco was the clear choice for us.
Many of my friends said they chose the Chicco not because of ratings but because it was lighter and easier to carry, but I found the Graco is very easy to carry and just as light. I think the Graco design has improved over the last few years since many of them had kids.

VERY interesting!! I am going back to the store with one of their personal shoppers in a couple weeks in order to see if we like that one better. It was not something I knew to look at when we were there last time (the canopy). Thanks!

I was originally going to go with they keyfit but also heard the same issues and I did not like the stroller system. We have the Britax Be Safe 35. I prefer Britax products overall. I know a lot of people with the snugride who are happy with it too. Car seat shopping is overwhelming! These are all highly rated companies and need to pass the same safety standards, with that in mind I'd go with whichever system or seats meets your personal needs.

Very happy with our Graco Snugride click connect. Make sure that if its one you decide on, that you pick either the 30 or 35. There's one with no number that does not fit newborns well.

I love my Chico keyfit magic! The canopy had a zipper you can open to expose a mesh panel so you get more shade and some ventilation. It also comes with a boot for winter and reversible inserts so it's been great for both my winter and spring babies.

Infant Car Seats!
For summer, I bought a separate sun canopy that covered the whole seat. I should mention that I walked A LOT with my son last summer. He was born in June. But I never used the car seat to go for walks outside. I just felt like he'd be too hot. I had a stroller that he was able to fit while reclined from day 1 so the car seat was never an issue. I had a Keyfit 30 and loved it until my son recently grew out of it.

Yes!!! I have the keyfit 30 and used it with my DS and the sun canopy is way too short. I hated flinging a lightweight blanket over because I was a neurotic first time mom and thought I was suffocating the baby. Now with my second coming soon I am going to look into getting some kind of canopy to add on. I see uppababy makes one that's universal for any seat. I would love to get a new car seat just for that reason but don't want to spend the $$$ since my current one is in mint condition.
If I were you I would definitely look into another seat. GL!!

Thanks! Otherwise I've heard perfect reviews on this seat, too bad they don't read their own reviews and fix it!
