Franklin Square Commute
Looking at moving to LI. One area that I like is Franklin Square. I have moved it to the no Column for now due to the lack of a LIRR station. I work near Penn station so that is my preferred commute. How easy can one commute to Penn from there using near by station (EG Parking, etc).

Close to Franklin Square you have Stewart Manor or New Hyde Park. Depending where you are in FS, New Hyde Park station is ~5 min drive (10-15 with rush hour traffic). Train ride into Penn is 30-35 minutes. Unless you are a resident of NYP parking $4/day.

Yes, if you arrive before 8am you will definitely have a spot.

Franklin Square Commute
@LulaBell - I am not familiar with that area. Is it an easy 5-10 minute walk (sidewalks, etc) or does it cut through highways?

Sidewalks on normal suburban streets, no highways. You walk down dogwood ave, under overpass for southern state and make a right onto hempstead ave where the lirr is. I'd say a 15-20 min walk. I think there is parking on hempstead ave that you could use also

Re: Franklin Square Commute
I grew up in Fr Sq and the commute is really easy b/c you're so close to so many train stations. I usually left from Malverne, Lynbrook or Mineola. There's also NHP, Stewart Manor, Merillon Ave and Valley Stream that are close drives.

If you live near Tulip Ave you can walk to Stewart Manor. There is also "pay by the day" parking at NHP or Floral Park stations -- it is $4-5 a day. If you live in the north part of town im assuming you can pay by the day at Valley Stream, but Ive never done it.

I'm in franklin square- look only north of hemp tpke, as many prefer to live in that area. Some may disagree with me, but areas north of the tpke border stewart manor and garden city, which are really nice areas. If you are north of hemp tpke, you will be near either the nassau blvd train station (if you buy in the GC south area where we are), or the stewart manor train station. The NHP train station is closeby as well.
I also prefer north of hemp tpke because everything is in walking distance. You have the nassau blvd shops in the gc south town area, you have the area on NHP road in garden city with little shops, and you have covert ave in stewart manor/floral park. I feel like when you go south of hempstead tpke, you have to take major roads to get anywhere (franklin ave, nassau blvd, dogwood ave). You also border valley stream
