Menu/Party Help

I am going to be throwing a party (combo of retirement and birthday) for ~12 people. We are on a tight budget. It is at a place where there won't be a usable kitchen. So I have to bring everything. It will be a brunch. There will be drinks (champagne, coffee, orange juice). For food I was thinking of just catering from a bagel place (the pricing goes per person)... it would be assorted bagels, lox, tomato and onion slices, and cream cheese. There will obviously have to be a cake. I was also thinking of maybe making a coffee cake in addition but since there was a regular cake, I might just skip it and make a large fruit platter. Is this enough food or no? What would you suggest me adding?

I would probably make quiche, two different ones would be good. You can heat them before you go and then serve them warm or even room temp. I would do the fruit tray and maybe a platter of cookies if you want something else.

Re: Menu/Party Help

If it's 'brunch' time - and not breakfast, I'd probably do salads with the bagels - (tuna, egg) in addition to butter/cc.
I'd also do a few quiches in advance
I have a great bisquick/zuchinni crustless one that is delish room temp or cold.
Agree with the fruit platter, and I'd probably just bake the coffee cake to as it won't cost much ........

But I tend to go over board w/ stuff

I would probably add hot tea and iced tea to the drinks and
then I would have bagels with plain cream cheeses and 1 or 2 flavored cream cheese, butter, lox, tomato, onions
A fruit salad and a green salad with italian dressing.
If you can swing it I would add a cheese and meat platter
Cake and cookies or some other type of dessert that is individual.
I'd probably make the salads and get chunks of cheese and pepperoni etc and cut them up myself and put it on a platter.

I think bagels and spreads is enough, but maybe get a cold cut platter so that people can have either bagel sandwiches or have it with butter/cream cheese.
If not too much trouble, I would make a fruit salad and maybe 2 quiches..skip the coffee cake since there will be cake already.
good luck!!
