Beta/Prog
Can someone please make me understand the importance of Progesterone in an early pregnancy.
Beta/Prog #1 at 3w5D 86/17.6 Beta/Prog #2 at 4W1D 202/14.8 Beta/Prog #3 at 4W6D 2303/12.9
I am a little worried my Prog keeps dropping, but my RE is telling me all is OK, they like to see over 10. I know my Beta is nice & high but why is my Prog dropping?
Anyone go through this. I am 5 weeks today.
Thank you!

Re: Beta/Prog
Your numbers look great!! I can't explain what causes progesterone to drop, but I always had low progesterone (lowest was 5-6) with all of my pregnancies. Your betas are rising nicely, and that's most important.

Re: Beta/Prog
No idea why the progesterone keeps dropping, but mine was always around 12 and my RE wasn't concerned. The numbers look great.

Me too. Started nice and high then dropped as low as 11 this pregnancy. With dd it dropped to 6. Don't worry since it fluctuates.

Re: Beta/Prog
the way my RE explained it, progesterone is not always 100% accurate, as it is sent from the brain at different times of the day so it can fluctuate. As long as your doctor isnt worried, you're good!

Re: Beta/Prog
I had low progesterone with my first dd and this pregnancy. I was put on crinone around 5 weeks both times. ask your doc and see if he will let you take crinone for a few weeks. it will make you feel more at ease knowing you are giving yourself the extra progesterone.

I had low progesterone even after being on pio shots and crinone from a few days after my Ivf. It was literally like 9 everytime and I was always so concerned but they said just keep taking the crinone once a day and it's getting where it needs to go but won't show up in blood. Everything is fine now and I'm 24 weeks!

I wonder what happens when you go to a regular OB and they do not even see you until 6-8 weeks? Will the progesterone just start picking up? I know there is no harm in taking it, but if the doctor isn't concerned, should I take something anyway? I am seeing a RE for fertility issues, but wound up getting pregnant naturally in the process. Do you think that may be why they aren't worried about the number? Or because of the rate my beta is increasing? I don't get why some doctors would put you on it for anything below 20, or some below 15, and mine likes it over 10? I am confused. I am waiting for him to get back to me so just thinking in the meantime.

Anything over 10 in a natural pregnancy is considered ok. Some REs want to see over 20 in a medicated pregnancy because more follies usually mean a higher prog level, at least initially. If you aren't spotting, I'm sure everything is fine.
