We are closing on the little investment house tomorrow (finally). I'm trying to get the electric turned on, actually we need the meter put back in because it was removed in 2011 by LIPA.
Although my attorney has confirmed that I have the correct and only address for the property PSEG is stating that the address does not exist so I cannot have power!
This has been through 4 live phone calls including 2 supervisors, that's it. I'm just shit out of luck, I can't have electric.
I have the sellers full names, pseg says they don't have record of them. They want me to give them the meter number but LiPA removed the meter in 2011.
Has anyone ever encountered this level of douchebagery before?
I just told my attorney that if the seller can't get to the bottom of it today we are not closing tomorrow.

I have not, and I would get your attorney to call them.

Can you get the PSEG account number from the sellers? Maybe that would help them (PSEG) locate their own account! Crazy situation. Good luck!

So I told the attorney that the closing is off, the real estate agent was able to get the seller to call pseg and she used her social or something and they found the account. I had to call a specific person in a specific department and there's an application and electrical inspection that needs to happen before I can have a new meter. I actually tried to tell the 4 jackasses I spoke to that there was probably a department that handles this sort of thing but they all said no!
Further proof that utilities should have competition like every other business on the planet. They can eff up all they want but we are all stuck with them!

My in laws had sorta the same thing only they had electric, but weren't being charged. Fil kept calling telling them and they said their address doesn't exist! Fil called a bunch of times in fear they would send him a large bill at some point, but eventually gave up because no one was listening to him. Eventually it all got worked out, but it took a lot of calling. They live in a 55+ community, so I think they had someone from there help them.
