Anyone get services through insurance?
Our sons CPSE meeting isn't until June so i'm not sure if he will qualify for summer services. I don't think he has shown too much regression but he hasn't really shown much progress either. He gets speech and p/t 2x/week and o/t 3/week. His eval has some skills scoring at 1yo still - and he is 4yo. I would say he is only about 15% of his goals overall on his IEP.
Anyway ive heard that you can possibly get services through medical insurance. Im wondering if anyone has done this for the summer and how it works? Do they just charge your copay for each session? What recommendation does the insurance need? From a ped or dev ped?
TIA

Re: Anyone get services through insurance?
I only know about speech, not p/t and o/t. I have 2 friends whose children didn't qualify through CPSE for services but they were concerned about speech. They took them to a local place and had them evaluated and they recommended speech. They do it through insurance and pay the co-pay weekly. The place handled getting the authorization. I think they were authorized for 16 sessions. And then if they feel they need more, the therapist writes a justification to insurance to get more sessions approved (more sessions were approved for both of them).
