Repost from TTC- RE recommendations
Have LOTS of questions!!
1. Do RE's agree to do testing and whatnot prior to you trying for a full year? I have been trying since September, got pregnant 6 months later and miscarried. Have tried twice since then with no luck. Would like to seek guidance, but I'm afraid that I will be turned away due to the fact that I have gotten pregnant once.
2. What tests do they initially do?
3. GHI specific question: Are IUIs covered by insurance, or do you pay alot out of pocket?
Any recommendations for GHI covered doctors?
Thank you all!

Repost from TTC- RE recommendations
1. I believe if you are 35+ they will do testing if you haven't gotten pregnant within 6 months. But I'm not sure if this is a hard and fast rule. Like if you are under 35 and got pregnant and it resulted in a MC, you may be eligible, but I can't say for sure.
2. First day- they take blood from your and your partner. They will also do a sonogram of your ovaries.
3. This depends on your specific GHI plan. I don't have GHI so I can't say.

Re: Repost from TTC- RE recommendations
I am under 35 and went to a RE less than a year of trying, did not have an issue with them seeing me.
First appointment they did blood & sono
I have GHI through City of NY, not sure which GHI plan you have, for my plan there is unlimited coverage of IUI's, for IVF you are covered 75% for a max of 3. This does not include meds. Oh and I had a $30 co-pay pretty much every time I walked through the door.
I went to RSNY but I can't say I recommend them.

Repost from TTC- RE recommendations
i went to a RE just for a visit due to my PCOS and wanted to be sure there was no other underlying issues. i also wanted to know what my PCOS status was (mild/ severe etc.) i had no issues with them accepting me as a patient. and it was fully covered less my 20$ copay. i do not have GHI though i have aetna.

I have GHI and I like that they allow me out of network, except I have to pay a deductible!

Re: Repost from TTC- RE recommendations
Hi. I have GHI insurance through my husband (CUNY- NYC) and I cannot recommend my RE enough- Dr. Steven Palter at Gold Coast IVF. He is wonderful as is the entire staff.
Your initial visit is comprehensive- lots of paperwork, history & consult with Dr, usually bloodwork and ultrasound. Any other additional tests are determined by the Dr. depending on your need.
For me, GHI covered the IUI and meds in full. I have a $15 co-pay when just bloodwork is done at a monitoring appt and $30 if its blood and ultrasound. I think under my plan, 6 IUIs are required before IVF would be covered at 75%. That also depends on age. If you are under 35, they may require 12 IUIs before IVF would be covered.
If you have any other questions feel free to ask and Good Luck!

Yes, they will see you, but your insurance may not cover you (unless you are over 35).
