Mini Vacation to a Caribbean Island?
We're planning to do a mini vacation (max 4 days) before I give birth, we were thinking going to a Caribbean island. Which one do u think it'll be a good idea? Our 2 yr old will be coming with us. Oh and also budget friendly!

When are you planning on going? If it's during hurricane season, I'd stick to islands like Aruba that are out of the hurricane belt. Otherwise, since you are going for a short time, I'd go to one of the closer islands, like Turks & Caicos

Thank u mommies! We were planning middle of June. We've been to DR and PR so we're now hoping to visit a new island but since we're bring our son, it'd be good if it's kids friendly

Mini Vacation to a Caribbean Island?
I know someone who just got back from Turks and Caicos last week and loved it.
Be aware, especially as a pregnant woman, that St. Maarten has Dengue fever in its mosquito population. I got it there years ago. I know someone else who didn't believe my warning when she went years after me and who got it also. If you go there, you will have to use lots of bug spray - which is not too great when expecting.

Re: Mini Vacation to a Caribbean Island?
We just came back from Grand Cayman. There were tons of little kids, the island is completely safe to walk around.
We booked through jet blue vacations and stayed at the Marriott. Highly recommend!
It's a short flight too.
Let me know if you have any questions.

Re: Mini Vacation to a Caribbean Island?
We go once to twice a year mostly to Mexico as we think it offers more than Dominican Republic. Have not been in the other Caribbean countries. In Mexico, the most recent visit was in November and we went to Iberostar Riviera Maya (they have paraiso lindo which shares the same grounds and facilities but slightly smaller rooms). Regardless, we went with my 2 year old and it was the best vacation catered to kids. They have a Pirate ship pool, a smaller kids pool, a wave pool which was a lot of fun, a couple of ice cream shops around the pool area, a kids show at night and very good kids club!!! Also, in the resort premisses they have a a carousel, creperie and a couple of days a week they come with the bouncy houses. It truly was the best resort we have seen for kids. We are going to try the same resort in DR shortly (offers the same pirate ship, kids club etc) and hopefully we will have the same experience.
If you want a vacation catered more towards you I highly recommend Grand Sunsent Princess. Have been there 3 times (and we have a rule of not going more than once as there are so many resorts), but it truly is a great resort especially for the Platinum feature. However, we went there prior to having a kid.
We have been to others but I think these two are worth mentioning. As I said, I prefer Mexico better.
FM me if you have more questions.

I have probably been to St Maarten 35 times, and never encountered this issue. We have a timeshare, so we stay there. I wouldnt stay at an all inclusive there because there are many good restaurants all over the island. I prefer the dutch side -- theres a lot more going on. The French side is kind of quiet
We own at Simpson Bay Resort.

Re: Mini Vacation to a Caribbean Island?
We stayed at the Sonesta Maho Beach on the Dutch side of St. Maarten (which is an all-inclusive) this winter and loved it!
For an all-inclusive, the food was very good. We didn't stay on the property the entire time - and ate some meals out, but thoroughly enjoyed the Sonesta and would go back without hesitation.
