Recommend toddler sandals or flip flops?
DDs are 2.5 I'm having a hard time deciding what to get for DDs for the summer. I'm assuming they'll be doing some running around at camp (2 days a week) or at the playground etc. are flip flops a bad idea? Should I get a good sneaker bottomed sandal instead?
I got them a decent pair of white sandals for every day but I can't see them wearing this on the playground. Help?

I do a closed toed sandle. I worry about her toes as dd is a rough and tumble toddler. Im not planning on flip flops for a couple of years as they have no support.

Re: Recommend toddler sandals or flip flops?
I got my kids these. From TCP and a pair from ON. They are like crocs but I feel they stay on better. They can get wet, rinse off easily and are easy to wear on the playground and super cheap. DD1 will be 5 and has had these the past few years. They are amazing. The white around the bottom does comes off easily but they are fine.
I don't let me kids wear open toe or flip flops out and about. They fall off, or their toes get scrapped up.

Thanks for the advice! There are Tevas that are almost totally closed in the front and wet/dry too! Maybe those will work

I just got DD a pair of Natives after seeing a bunch of kids wearing them on the playground. They are like crocs material-wise, but look more like vans or converse.

Weird question, do yours smell? Like a sickeningly sweet smell? We have two pairs from different points in time and they stink!

Re: Recommend toddler sandals or flip flops?
I wouldn't get flip flops. Too easy for them to fall. I only started buying flip flops for DS1 when he was 5 and it was just for the beach. Our daycare also discourages crocs although I've always bought the kids a pair. I've bought closed toe sandals in the past, but both kids get really sweaty feet in the summer and the shoes smell. I'm not sure what I'm going to do this year.

Keen makes great closed to sandals with a sneaker like footbed. But they make their feet smell so bad!

I bought my DD the Skechers version of Natives. She loves them and they're really cute and easy to clean.

Sandals
80% of the kids in the summer program I worked for the last 3 years wear these. Ages 2-5 Never had a problem with them coming off like other sandals while they are running around.

Re: Recommend toddler sandals or flip flops?
I get my boys closed toe sandals at Stride Rite every year (through age 5). They work as a water shoe and sandal. Love them. Closed toe, good support, and good sole.
