Sensory Modulation Disorder- Sensory Seeking
DD is 3.5 and is in constant motion and always touching things and putting things in her mouth- I thnk she may have Sensory Modulation Disorder- Sensory Seeking type.
I am just wondering if anyone has any knowledge experience or information about this?

Re: Sensory Modulation Disorder- Sensory Seeking
An Occupational Therapy Evaluation with an OT that specializes in Sensory Processing/Sensory Integration would be your 1st step. There are lots of things you can do at home. The Alert Program/How does Your Engine Run and the Zones of Regulation are both excellent. I'm a pediatric OT and my own DD,now 5yrs, is a huge sensory kid. She ALWAYS has something in her mouth (except food, because she's a picky eater!). I made her a "mouth box" of whistles, chewlery, etc... I also tried all natural gum and a good "sensory diet". The Out of Sync Child and Sensational Kids are great books for further info.
She has made major improvements and looks completely different now then she did at 3 1/2. She also received OT at a clinic setting for 2 years due to toe walking/gross motor delays. Her PT was great at incorporating sensory actives into her sessions.
