Disney question Re: camera

Trying to figure out if I should bring my DSLR camera- I would love to have great pictures but not sure if it's gonna be a major pain to carry around? I will be bringing a stroller to the parks so I can store it in the basket when not in use maybe

Re: Disney question Re: camera

We always brought ours. We travel very light to Disney (no strollers), but I'd bring it in my purse. All rides we went on with 2 small kids, I was able to bring my purse.

I would not leave a DSLR unattended. I know it is the happiest place on earth, but my camera was $$$. I'm sure the stolen resale value would be high.

Re: Disney question Re: camera

I purchased the Memory Maker based on a co-workers suggestion for our trip in December.

They are big Disney people and they always get it. He said it allows them to get pictures through out the park, on the rides, at certain character meetings etc., without having to worry about lugging out the big camera. Plus, he gets to be in them as well lol

He says he just uses his iphone for any additional pictures. He said they get over 200 photos.

Disney question Re: camera

I always bring mine. Cell phone cameras just don't have the capability of a DSLR. I am always in the pictures because I just hand my camera to the cast members, who have no issue taking family pictures.

Re: Disney question Re: camera

I didn't. I thought long and hard about it but I didn't want to lug something so valuable around with me. My iPhone takes pretty decent pictures, so that was my main "camera" then we also stopped and had pictures taken by the cast members at the memory maker spots (although we didn't buy memory maker, you can still order prints). We ordered a few copies of the decent pictures taken by Disney. Worked well for us.

Re: Disney question Re: camera

I brought it the first time and have amazing pictures - I left it the second time and regretted it the whole trip.
I'd rather lug it around and have the pictures .......
DH put it in the backpack for the rides, or I just wore it cross body - it's not the most comfortable thing, but it's worth it.

I don't get people who never want to take it anywhere - what's the point of having it?

Disney question Re: camera

We usually use our cellphone, but if you bring your DSLR DO NOT leave it in your basket. You can take it with you and store it in a backpack or the mesh bag in front of your seat on rides. If there are rides you cannot bring them along, they will usually have lockers for you to use.

The memory maker people will take pictures with your personal device (cell phone or camera) just ask them.

We did this too. We got awesome pictures the first time and good the second (moreso because it was hot and DS 2 didn't like characters - nothing to do with the people taking the photos).
