Questions to ask at an IVF consultation

Please list the questions you asked when you went for your IVF/Mini IVF consultation. I am drawing a complete blank, and have less than a week to come up with some good ones.

Also, what is discussed during a typical consultation? It's been so long since I was a new patient, that I don't remember how the "flow" of the appointment went.

Questions to ask at an IVF consultation

I think it depends on your RE as to how the consult will go. Mine was very thorough, I had been with my RE for 6 months before we decided to go down the IVF road so a lot had already been discussed. Our consult was really about the timeline, he went over the entire process in detail, explained again why we have to do IVF and than scheduled an appointment with the NP to go over all of the paperwork. We also had to schedule a IVF sperm freeze so we had a backup if they couldn't get fresh that day (male IF issues).

As far as questions, I never had any at the initial consult because he gave me so much information, I went home, processed it all and asked everything at my appointment with the NP, along the way I must have called my IVF nurse every other day with questions and they never seemed to mind at all.

I didn't ask many questions. I told her my history and we discussed the plan of attack.

I knew what I wanted to basically do and once I am done with testing we will deal with specifics.
