What time do your kids go to bed?? When DH had his old job, he was home by 4:30 most days and DD's bedtime was earlier, usually 7pm. Now he gets home between 6:00 & 7:00. We don't want DD to not see him other than at dinner during the week so we find that her bedtime just naturally got pushed to later. She's 4yrs old and most nights she doesn't go to sleep until close to 9. I still give her a naps so she's fine with the later bedtime, but once she's done with those I feel like this will be too late for her. What do other moms do when husband's get home from work later?

ETA - duh, or if YOU get home later.

I don't get home until about 7 with DS, DH gets home shortly after, DS goes to bed between 8-9. I don't remember my bedtime ever really being much earlier than that.

My DH recently had his hours change and now he gets home around 7. I try to have dinner ready by then, but sometimes we eat later. Then by the time DH and DD play together, and she has her bath and all, she usually not asleep until after 10. But she sleeps a little later than she used to in the mornings and she takes later naps, so it all evens out and works for us right now while she's not in school yet. Once she goes to school we'll have to get her to bed earlier.

I get home at 6. And I bring DD home with me when she is at daycare that day.

She really doesn't have a set bed time but never before 830 or 9

My DH gets home around 740 most nights. Some nights later. I get home around 4. My son is young just turned a year and goes to sleep usually right before DH comes home. My husband gets him ready in the morning so that's his time with DS. We eat dinner around 8. It'll be tough as he gets older. I just pushed up DS's bedtime because he was waking up so early.

I give cd dinner before dh gets home. We try to eat together but 1-she is too excited to see him and won't eat and 2-it cuts into their play time.

Dh gets home at 6 from the city. He's lucky to be able to leave at 4pm as soon as the market close. He's home by 6. They play for an hour and he does her bedtime routine and bath on bath nights. It's their special time together and then I come in and we both say goodnight and put her down together. She's in her crb by 745pm normally.

We generally both walk in the house at 630. DS doesn't go to bed until 9pm. We have always had it this way. He's up at 6am but that's plenty of sleep for him.

DH is home between 6-6:30 every night, both kids (ages 2 and 6) are in bed EVERY night by 8pm. They are tired by then and both pass out within minutes, I wouldn't even try and keep them up later. Besides, I love an 8pm bedtime, I need a break! Chat Icon

9:30-10:00.
We both work & pushed back bedtime so we are guaranteed time with kids.
They are 3& almost 5.
Neither nap.
I did late bedtime since 5-6 months.
Most of my coworkers do this...

My husband leaves for work around 9pm. I try to get home from work about 6pm. We all eat together, play, etc. Then my husband starts to get ready for work about 8:30 while I get my son ready to go to sleep. He normally goes to sleep around 9pm.

DH is home 2 weekdays a week, if he opens he's home by 7:30/8 and if not he's not home til 10 or even 2am. The kids go to bed at 7-8 either way. I don't keep them up bc he comes home at 7:30ish.

I bring DS (and soon DD once I go back to work) home from day care around 7pm. DH gets home 7:30. My kids go to bed around 9pm and have to be up at 6:45am for day care. It's what we have to do and we make it work.

Even if we were home early, I don't think I'd ever have an "early" bedtime. DS's earliest bedtime was 8pm and that only lasted a short time before he naturally pushed it back.

My husband gets home around 530. I don't get home until between 7 and 730. We have dinner between 730 and 8. Kids start getting ready for bed around 830/9. We have a fairly length in tuck in until 930 sometimes later in the summer. They are 6.5, 5.5, and 2.

Eta...even though they have a late bedtime, my kids still resist going to sleep. Especially my 5.5 year old. They would naturally stay up late and sleep in, which is what they do on weekends.

DH gets home around 6. My twins are 4.5 and my youngest is almost 3. They all used to have a 7-7:30 bedtime. Now they go to bed around 8:30. None of them nap anymore but if I put them to bed before it starts to get dark out they freak out and wind up screaming for an hour so we let them stay up later now. I'm sure once they are in school full time it will go back to 7:30, 8:00 the latest.

My DH gets home 8:15 or later. If he doesn't see the kids, he doesn't see them. They need their sleep. Bedtime is 8:00-8:30 for the baby and 8:30-9:00 for the older kids.

DH gets home around 6. We eat as a family and then he had playtime with the girls from 7-8. Bedtime routine begins around 8/8:30 and then DH reads to DD1 And puts her to bed around 9:30. She wakes up around 7/7:30 in the morning, just in time to see her dad leave for work. DD2 is usually down by 8:30 and wakes around 7:30/8.

I'm so glad to hear that we're not the only parents that don't rush to put our kid to bed. I mean, it always does seem like a rushed night, but we don't push to get him down by an early time.

DH and are both get home between 530-6 on a good day (we can get stuck any day, I work late during busy season, he has other busier times).

DS goes to bed at about 9pm. Has always been the case. We have 3-ish hours to get dinner made and eat as a family, play, bath, and then relax together. Chat Icon
