Question about breast biopsy. Please don't move
I have to go for a breast biopsy and was told about the marker that they put in. There are a few reasons that I am not comfortable with this or the mammogram that you have to have afterwards see if it is in the right place. I just had one and that's a lot of radiation. This is most likely something benign or else I would just do what the doctor said without question. I'm guess I'm just wondering if anyone who's been through this has a doctor who was willing to do the biopsy without the marker? TIA.

Question about breast biopsy. Please don't move
My marker was placed during my ultrasound guided biopsy. It is a routine way of keeping track of whatever is of concern. I know several women who have markers, but do not have cancer.
I had had a mammogram BEFORE the biopsy. Not one afterwards. But since I knew I had cancer, and the mamo showed abnormalities, I headed for a surgeon, so perhaps there was no need for a mamo afterwards to check on placement.
Have you already had a mamo? Is the result of it what is triggering the need for a biopsy? Don't worry about the marker or getting an extra mamo. DO worry about breast cancer. Get what needs to be done, done to save your health.
Here's hoping whatever you have is B9.

This,
I was 37 weeks pregnant and I found a lump in my left breast. My doctor confirmed that it was definitely something and sent me immediately to have an ultrasound of my breast. Well the tech found something else and I ended up having a biopsy at 38 weeks. They put the marker in and I never had a mammo. Everything turned out fine with me, I just have to follow up and have another ultrasound. No Mammo.
I know it is easier said then done but please try not stress.

You def want the marker in in case it's malignant, as mine was. It made the lumpectomy a lot easier

Re: Question about breast biopsy. Please don't move
I had to have this. I wanted to refuse the marker but I was told they would NOT do this without the marker being put in. I discussed beforehand and they said they must place marker. Mine were tiny calcifications, and my biopsy was sterotactic (mammo guided). They place the marker while doing a MAMMO. Then they do another one after to see placement. any questions, feel free to fm

Re: Question about breast biopsy. Please don't move
I've had three markers put in (all biopsied at one visit) followed by a mammo. I get yearly sonos to follow the markers but haven't had a mammo since. The markers are important to see if any changes are occurring.

Re: Question about breast biopsy. Please don't move
I have three markers in one breast. This makes all following mammos and sonograms alot easier. They know the exact spots to check next time.
