Re: What do you give a doctor?
It's more of a thank you. Like when I give my kids teachers gifts, it's to let them know how much I appreciate all they do.
I think a nice handwritten note is always nice and if you want to send the office a basket or edible arrangement, that is appreciated. I never give homemade food because my sister in law works at a doctor's office and they never eat the homemade food given by patients (they don't tell them that, just say thank you but she said they can't trust it-one year they all got sick from someone's food).

Lol. In the MFM dept we throw out the homemade stuff too. Kind of feel bad.

I kind of assumed that much with the homemade stuff. Mostly I feel like there's too many allergies so to be sure of what exactly is in the food would be risky. That's why I just sent a box of chocolates. I like the idea of edible arrangements though too. Maybe I'll do that next time around.
And btw, I definitely agree with a lot of the girls on here. A tip is totally unnecessary. But a thank you is always appreciated

What do you give a doctor?
With dd2 I sent a long thank you and a birth announcement. The ob wasn't from my practice so I never saw her after I delivered and just felt like I needed to thank her bc she really was amazing and I know I could have easily lost dd if she hadn't acted as quickly as she did. I definitely understand the desire to recognize your doctor for the huge roll they play, whether it's over your entire pregnancy or just a few hours but I think a heartfelt note goes a long way.

Re: What do you give a doctor?
My insurance gave them a really big bonus of $30K for the c-section delivery.

In my office, we always eat the homemade stuff! But we know our patients really well, lol.

Re: What do you give a doctor?
I gave my doctor that delivered my girls a thank you card and pictures of my girls.
Two days before my section, at my last high risk appointment, I brought all the amazing nurses, Drs and staff Baked by Melissa cupcakes. I also sent them one of my announcements after the girls were born

Re: What do you give a doctor?
As a vet, by far the best gift I ever receive is a heartfelt card/note expressing appreciation of any kind. Cute pictures of said pet/ Chocolate/baked goods of any kind are always welcome as well hehe. It is so special and motivating when you feel a care provider has gone above and beyond the call of duty (even if it is their "job"), and you express that to them!

Re: What do you give a doctor?
I sent my ob after my 1st an edible arrangement and plan on doing something similar this time. Him and his staff have been amazing so I want to thank them for a job well done. If you work hard and do your job well its nice to be recognized sometimes.

I did something for my OB. I organized with one of the nurses to have their lunch hour catered from his favorite deli. He called me after to thank me and must have told me a million times it wasn't necessary, but honestly I would do it again.
Yep - I agree.
If you feel they went above and beyond, it's a very nice gesture.
I love my OB - I could see myself doing this.
And a catered lunch for the office - they would love that.
