Daycare and calling
i put my son in daycare when he was 11 weeks ago (almost 6 years ago) and i never called. some people will say call and annoy them lol but IMHO...you need to trust your daycare. the more you call you are taking away their time with your child. imagine if all parents called...they'd never get off the phone. you have to trust if there is a problem they will call you. it get easier :)
ETA...my son would cry at drop off and then literally stop crying 2 minutes after i left. they would tell me at pick up

Daycare and calling
No I've never called them to check up on DD. If a problem arises they will be the ones to call me.

Never did. There was one day I sent a text bc she had been a little off that morning but that was about it.

Re: Daycare and calling
We called once mid morning the first few days with each kid just to make sure they were ok. I'd say after the third day we felt comfortable and stopped. Neither of our kids took long to adjust though. I personally wouldn't call multiple times a day unless things weren't going well. I didn't feel the need to call at all once I knew they were fine there.
You ultimately have to do what feels right to you though!

Daycare and calling
I started DS in daycare at 9 weeks. They called me in the middle of his first day to update me.. after that, I never called. I did my research and trust them. They just started using the Precious status ap which I love, because I get updates throughout the day. Ds had no problem adjusting and has loved it. He's almost 8 months and has little friends there and loves his teachers.

Daycare and calling
I called the first day but after that I never did. My daycare was really good about calling me if one of the boys seemed off.

Daycare and calling
My DD started day care this week too. She's had a really tough time adjusting. Crying as soon as we even got close. I called shortly after I left. I'm debating on calling now to see how she did with lunch but since I get out early today, I may not...
IMO, I would call. It'll make you feel better.

Never called. My ds started at 8 weeks and he's now 3.5. Never felt the need to call. I figure they will call me if there is an issue

Re: Daycare and calling
When my DS first started, I called once a day for the first couple of weeks to check up on him. After that, I felt very comfortable with the teachers and that he was doing well so I didn't need to call.

Daycare and calling
When he was a baby, yes. I called or texted once a day. Now I only shoot a quick text if he seems to have had a rough drop-off.

Re: Daycare and calling
With my first, I called once per day for the first few weeks and occasionally I'd also call once if he had a tough evening/morning, was teething or seemed a little under the weather. With my second, I think I called once on the first day.

Re: Daycare and calling
no i don't call. they call me if something happens. I will only call/text if I f I have to tell them something or if they had a really really bad breakdown once I left but not every time they cry
but I know some parents that call every day to see how there kid is or talk to them.
ETA: also if it makes you feel any better they usually stop once you leave and DD who is 4.5 still sometimes gets clingy and occasionally cries when I leave her and she has been at the same daycare since 12 weeks but once I am gone she is 100% fine

Re: Daycare and calling
When I worked in centers, I never had parents calling. They just asked about the kids at pickup. Now at my home daycare, parents will call or text me whenever kids are having an 'off' day and I'm happy to answer! In a center it's a little more difficult and I probably would have been kind of annoyed that I was being pulled away from my class. At home we're much more relaxed with our schedule and there's less kids so it's no problem.
However, from a mom's point of view, I'd definitely be calling if my child was having a hard time because she's my baby and that's just how it is. lmao. Only once a day though and I would make sure not to do it every day, but you're the mama, you're paying them, you have a right to call I hope kiddo is doing well.

Re: Daycare and calling
I only call if the kids aren't feeling too great or if I need to remind or notify caregivers of something. I don't want to take time away from their caring for the kids. They know to call me anytime if they have any questions or need to notify me of something. 3 phone calls in one day was probably annoying.

Daycare and calling
I called the first day. Or a couple of times if he wasn't feeling well. Otherwise I figure they will call or let me know if something is wrong. But I know the first day/week is tough.

I still call every so often depending if dd is off in the morning. I don't call a lot but I do call whenever I want and they welcome it.

Daycare and calling
I worked at a daycare and hated when parents called constantly. It interrupts the day and sometimes woke kids up from nap. I had one mom who called every single day. Did he eat? Is he sleeping? So annoying when I was trying to clean up the room after lunch

Daycare and calling
The only time I have ever called is when I forgot to tell them something when I dropped him off. Yesterday, I dropped him off later than usual and he was crying hysterically when I left. I knew he'd be fine a few minutes after I left.

Re: Daycare and calling
I typically don't. If she is crying all it's going to do is ruin my day too. I can't go get her so why bother. I trust they would call if they needed me. I'll hear all about it when I get her.
