If you put in an Inground pool...
What did it run you? We would be removing a semi in ground and paving or doing cement around depending on price difference. I know this can vary bc there are so many different factors but just trying to get an idea, thanks!

We have an 18ft oval so we would likely keep it that size. As far as options I'm pretty clueless except for heated. I hear salt water is the way to go so I think that also.

We wound up putting in a semi-inground, but when we were looking, and trying to decide, we priced an inground (I forget the exact size, but I think it was 16 x 32) and it was about $18K - $20K for the pool and everything that went with it (filter, vacuum etc), but none of the concrete/paver work around the pool.
ETA: This was summer of 2012

If you put in an Inground pool...
We priced out pools a few weeks ago and an inground was about $20-30K no paver work basic pool. The guy told us the fancier the pricier and it can go up to $60K. We think we are going to go with the semi inground next year.

Crazy right..the prices blew my mind. Honestly even the semi with no pavers or deck was $10K which I thought was $$ but after some research appears to be right on point. Obviously I'm very green to this homeowner thing because that seriously gave me sticker shock.

Re: If you put in an Inground pool...
I don't know dimensions, but we had a 40,000 gallon pool put in in October. We have 3 lights, in deep end we have a sitting bench, and got the more efficient pump. We didn't get the heater, and not sure if we will (we get full sun), and we did salt water. It cost $34,000.....just had brick installed....OMG

Wow -- I'm amazed at these prices! This is why I'll never get a pool living here on LI -- the season is way too short to warrant prices like this! If I could use my pool year round or maybe even 1/2 or 3/4 of the year, then I'd pay no problem, but for a 2-3 months -- hell no!

So the $34 is without the brick?
It isn't imminent as our semi is still in good condition but when it goes we would like to do Inground.
I'm not opposed to cement around either, we have pavers on our patio so it would probably be hard to match them so concrete might actually look better

yes, WITHOUT brick.....our pool is BIG, so hence the high price.

We've been pricing inground pools. For the pool, heater, lights, bench, spa/hot tub, vacuum, liner, and metal steps it was $30k. This is for a 400sq ft pool.

Re: If you put in an Inground pool...
we put in a 24x14 rectangle last year, with upgraded steps and light, DE filter, salt system, heat pump, shark vacuum, manual vacuum, pole, nets, loop lock cover, etc I am sure there was more. All of that was about $25K.
We had a tons of pavers out down (really big area), permits, architect, electrician, had to sod the yard after, had to pay LIPA to move something, etc. all those other costs doubled the price.

This. In my experience, its very hard to stay much below $40K for both the pool and pavers.

Re: If you put in an Inground pool...
20 by 40 pool, liner, heater, salt water and water falls was round $33k. Then a few thousand for electrical. Its a big pool and we didn't go with the cheapest estimate.

If you put in an Inground pool...
I love the idea of a pool, but to be honest you get maybe 3 months of warm weather to use it. Then it sits in the yard for 9 months covered..your taxes will go up with in ground too. God forbid you should make any improvements to your home that raises its value, the county will be there at your door with their hand out. Enjoy your pool, I don't mean to be a debbie downer...just NY taxes and weather are getting to me...

No you are actually 100% right, realistically this will cost @40k... For something we will use 10 out of 52 weeks a year lol that money would be much better spent elsewhere, it isn't like we have millions to toss around haphazardly lol

If you put in an Inground pool...
Ours was about $22k for a 16x36 saltwater (no heater)....pavers were about 6k and we put an estate fence around it for $2k.
dH is a teacher and home all summer with two kids. They are in it every day so for us it's worth it!

Re: If you put in an Inground pool...
When we looked into this, we were told about $30k for pool alone, no pavers. We're not ready just yet, maybe in a year or two.
