Transport to NYC cruise port
Going on a cruise and leaving out of NYC. Usually, my in laws drive us to the cruise port and pick us up, but they'll be away. I have a DD who is 4 and DS that is 2.
Does anyone have experience with a car service to the cruise port? Do they provide car seats? Can someone recommend a service? TIA

Re: Transport to NYC cruise port
And allow a lot a lot a lot of time to get there. Getting across town and then even making the turn into the cruise port can be horrible. I was there a few weeks ago and it took me close to 2 hours from the JFK area.

Re: Transport to NYC cruise port
It's Carnival Splendor. The last time that we left out of Manhattan, since my in laws live in Flushing, we drove to them and they drove us to the terminal. We drove in such a way that we didn't go through NYC at all. I don't remember the route now, but we pretty much drove right up to the terminal off of the road we were on. I was thinking of driving to their house and then getting a car service from there. They can't drive us this time because they'll be in Cancun at the same time. I'll see what Carnival offers. Thanks.

I would do that. Drive to their house and get the car service from there. Way cheaper, way less time in the car and traffic.

Transport to NYC cruise port
Sounds crazy but I think the way to drive would be go towards George Washington bridge and then take west side highway down. Going cross town is nuts.

Re: Transport to NYC cruise port
What day of the week does the cruise leave?
If you left early on a weekend traffic wouldn't be that bad.

This is the easiest route!
Went we went on a week long family cruise we found that parking our car at a garage for the week was cheaper then car service to and from. It worked out great and was very convenient

i would look into this, just b/c of the car seat issue.

Re: Transport to NYC cruise port
I would just drive to the port. That is what we did when we left from NYC. It was very easy to park.

I would also do this or uber it from your parents' house.

Transport to NYC cruise port
Thank you for all of the suggestions. I see that per day parking cost at the actual terminal is $40/day? When we left out of NJ, it was less than that. I'll look to see if there are nearby parking garages that are less per day. The cruise is leaving on a Saturday, so there shouldn't be traffic getting there. Thanks again!
