CPSE and age
So now my pediatrician said we may want to think about getting my little one evaluated. He is 26 months and not speaking anywhere near where he should.
That being said, he is having his tonsils and adenoids out at the end of next month. So she said let's give him a little bit after the surgery and maybe reevaluate where he is in November. At that point he will be 2 1/2 years old. His birthday is in the beginning of May.
Knowing how long the evaluation process can take and this will be around the holidays, I am thinking it won't be complete until around January? In February he will be 2.9 yrs old.
If you followed all that, is this EI or CPSE? Which would be better? Does it make a difference? I'm familiar with CPSE because my twins went through the process.

Re: CPSE and age
If you call EI they might refer you to CPSE because your LO is 2.5. I know for CPSE they did evals on my DS once he was 2.5. He does not begin with CPSE until September though.

I would just call EI now to see what they say. It's really not a big deal if he does qualify for services. I'd start the ball rolling sooner then later.

I wouldn't wait and call EI now if you think there's a good chance he might qualify.

ITA. I don't see any benefit to waiting.

I definitely wouldn't wait either. By the time the evaluations are done and you have a meeting, it'll be a little while to start if he qualifies. And if he does qualify, he will be getting services already by November rather than just starting the whole process at that time.
