Can someone explain what a monitored cycle entails?

The RE told me to call day 1 of AF to set up my 1st monitored cycle. Depending on when I ovulate I may be away in Lancaster when I get AF. Just wondering, when do they normally schedule you to come in when you call? I'm thinking day 3? I don't want to miss my chance.
Thanks for any info! I didn't even think to ask.

Are you on any meds this cycle? If no, then monitoring will usually begin anywhere from CD 8-10.

No meds. We just had our consult yesterday.

So most likely, they will have you come in anywhere from CD 8-10. RE will see if you are ready for the HCG trigger shot based on your dominant follicle. If the follicle is ready on your first visit, you get the trigger. If not, RE will estimate when you will be ready and have you come back for another ultrasound.

Are you doing an IUI or timed intercourse? Or are they just monitoring you to see how your cycle occurs naturally?
Either way, they will most likely want you to come in on CD 3 or 4 for blood work. After that, they probably won't want you back until closer to CD 8-10 like PP said. If you're going to be away, I would call and ask. The CD 3 blood work has to be done within a certain time frame for accuracy. Good luck!

Thanks. I had a feeling it was day 3 bloodwork. I had that done with my OB but I think he wanted it done again. I'm not sure what route we're going with this cycle coming up. DH is actually dropping off his SA today so I think that will determine a lot. I guess I'll just wait until I ovulate and then call because that's the determining factor for when AF shows.

Day 3 for bloodwork, and then they go from there. Basically, they will probably say "come in for monitoring on the day after AF is over" You'll then be going in every 2 days or so to see if the follicles are maturing, how many there are, and when you'll ovulate. They'll tell you what to do after that, either TI or IUI.
