Help a Vegas virgin out!
Crashing my husband's conference in Vegas. Never been. I'm going to be alone for 2 days. Not up for acting like a spring breaker (don't gamble, don't "club"), but I like people watching, cheap drinks, and could be up for a show, tour, or anything else.
Staying at Mandalay Bay, if that helps!

Mandalay Bay is the best! Go to the aquarium there.
I know you said you don't gamble but the gambling floor at that hotel is the best too because it's usually not crowded and if you are gambling (aka sitting at a slot machine, or standing near it) you get free drinks. low pressure. I usually sit at a machine, go very slowly, people watch and drink for free. there drinks are soooo good!
Walk the strip and check out all of the hotels. They are all themed and so much fun. There are roller coasters, water fountains, shows, in each and every hotel. So just walk around and observe and watch and grab a drink here or there. Shops too. Caesars is a nice mall and inside there are also different shows and little activities to observe.

Re: Help a Vegas virgin out!
Lounging by the pool is nice.
Just remember lots of sunscreen .
I've never been, but know a lot of people who have done tours to the Grand Canyon while they stayed in Vegas.
Also would be against all my aggravation on my other thread about timeshares, but several family have gotten the free tickets for the Grand Canyon by sitting through the tour.
If you have a lot of time on your hands, it may be worth it.

Help a Vegas virgin out!
All good suggestions above - just walking through the hotels is so much fun. There are so many things to see - love the fountains at Bellagio and the gondola ride at the Venetian. There is a roller-coaster at New York New York if you like that kind of thing. Tons of shopping everywhere (esp at Ceasars and Venetian).
There is the High Roller which is like a giant (slow) ferris wheel to get a view of the whole strip. There is Freemont Street which is the old Vegas Strip. Red Rocks Canyon is about 20 minutes away - beautiful! Or you can do a full day trip to The Grand Canyon & Hoover Dam.
As far as shows, I love the Cirque du Soleil shows - Love (the Beatles show) and "O" were two of my faves.

Definately Freemont St. It's a bus/cab ride but it's a lot of fun.
Caesars talking statues, Venetian boat ride, NY, NY roller coaster, Paris' Eiffel tower. Walk the strip and just go in and out of the casino's.
Enjoy!

Re: Help a Vegas virgin out!
we saw love, penn and teller, and carrot top. All different and all awesome. Best food we ate was @ Rick Moonan Seaford (RM Seafood) at Mandalay Bay. Best scallops for the hubs and best chicken for me of entire trip. and the shopping is amazing!!
Walking the strip is fun too!

Re: Help a Vegas virgin out!
There are nice spas in Vegas, too, if you are into that. Years ago I stayed at The Hotel at Mandalay Bay (newer part) and the spa was really nice there.
Pools and shopping are always fun. And there are some great restaurants.
But I agree that if you've never been, you definitely want to check out all of the casinos and all of their different themes/tourist attractions (gondola ride at Venetian, fountains at Bellagio, roller coaster at New York, New York, etc..). It's fun just to see all of the different things going on in the casinos/hotels.

+1 for the shark aquarium at Mandalay Bay.. Aria is also cool to just walk around.. Vegas gets tiring though, can't stay more than a few days.

Definitely check out Fremont Street (Downtown). Each hotel has an attraction.
There is tons of info for first timers and free/cheap things to do on TripAdvisor.
How soon are you going? If you have some time - play myVegas on facebook or your phone and you can earn free rewards (drinks, attractions, meals)
