How many IUI cycles do you go through before the RE does a protocol change , or does any further testing. I have had 2 unsuccessful IUI's I had to cancel this cycle bc I was sick , I am wondering when they are going to be like ok this isnt working?

Re: protocol change

that may be up to you. Im new to this whole RE thing and going for my first consult today.

I did 3 IUI's with my OB..not an Re. and at that point i was like screw it. I need to see someone else.

You may want to discuss this with your RE. If you think its not working maybe make a plan to say ok, i'll try one more time. if not we need to do more testing, etc.

With my DS, I did 2 IUI + Clomid then moved onto IUI + injectables and got my BFP.

For my DD, we did one unmediated since I was waiting on insurance approval, then moved right to IUI + injectables and got a BFP.

What have you done?

It depends. I never did injectables with IUI because it was a male factor issue & I was producing good follicles on a low dose of clomid. We had to do IVF

Express your concerns. In general, I've heard the rule to try everything 3 times then move on. However, if you're not comfortable waiting, then I'd talk to your RE about moving on. That's what we did, and it worked.

Re: protocol change

IUIs wasn't an option for me I did straight IVF. How many IUI cycles have you done? If it's just one I would definitely try another and discuss your concerns with your doctor. You may have to do a certain number before moving to injectables as per your insurance.

2 IUIs is not really a lot. Were they medicated?

Don't give up hope yet, it's still early!

I know thats why I figured I would try one more before i mentioned something to them. I have been trying almost 2 years though so I am starting to get really stressed out.
