5 month old and many night wakings?

Ds is almost five months old and I still feel like I have a newborn! He wakes up every 3 hours some nights. I just fed him after only 2 1/2 hours! I feed him until he won't take anymore, so that's not the problem. I already started puréed foods too and that hasn't helped! I tried letting him fuss a bit before I went in, but after about 10-15 mins it ended it full blown crying so that didn't work either. Is this normal at five months still?? My dd slept 12 hours from 6 months on, but I feel like at 5 months it was only one waking. Curious if I'm screwed and he's just a bad sleeper? Or if I can still hold out hope it will get better soon? I'm losing my mind with my sleep!

Both of mine slept all night from the beginning, but I do notice that DD (5mo) sleeps better in certain positions.

How does DS sleep? I feel like the startle reflex wakes DD if she is sleeping on her back, so I only put her on her belly at night. Maybe try a different sleep position.

5 month old and many night wakings?

At 5-6 months old my son went through a terrible sleep regression and was waking every 2 hours again also! I didn't feed him and would just try and get him back to sleep without taking him out of the crib. I finally had to just let him CIO but I also waited till he was 6 months to do it and it worked after one night! Good luck! I know it's tough! Also he may just not be as good as a sleeper! My son is now 2 1/2 and he still wakes up at night and calls for me! I'm hoping my daughter whose 3 weeks old is a better sleeper than he was!

5 month old and many night wakings?

My DS was a bad sleeper until a year. 3-6 months was the worst sleep. He was up every 1-2 hours looking for food. At 6 months, I introduced solids and did CIO. Most nights, he sttn from 6-8 months. From 8-12 months, his sleep was erratic again. Occasionally, he'd sttn, but more often than not, he'd be up 1-4 times. Once he hit 12 months and I did CIO again, he's been sttn 85-90% of the time.

I'm the same boat with my 4.5 month old. I think it's teething. I just ordered Merlin's Magic Sleep Suit. Should arrive tomorrow. Will let you know how it goes.

Re: 5 month old and many night wakings?

It could definitely be teething. But if it continues for much longer it could be a sleep regression. DC had one at about 6 months where he started waking up every two hours and it was not hunger or teeth. I couldn't take it anymore and we did CIO when he was 7 months. We probably waited a tad too long, but it was the best thing ever when he finally started sleeping all night.

If DC isn't hungry and nothing is physically bothering them they are simply getting used to the comfort. Sometimes they snap out of it themselves, but neither of mine did so we (successfully) did CIO with both.

I am definitely in the minority but my daughter still has never STTN at 2 years old. It was every 2 hours up until about a year.

Thanks for all the responses! I think he is teething. Dd got her first tooth at 5 months, so I'm hoping his pokes through soon. Hoping it gets a little better in a month or so though!
