Re: American girl doll the bitty baby
DD was given one for her first x-mas (she was 11 months at the time) and she loved it then and now still plays with it at 3 1/2.

Re: American girl doll the bitty baby
I'm in the minority here bit I think it's too big and heavy for a one year old. Granted, my dd is petite, but at 2.5, she never picks up this doll. When she does, it's really awkward for her. She vastly prefers the corolle mon premiere (12 inches vs. The bitty baby which is I believe 15 inches and much bulkier). The doll is well-made, has a great face, and I love the smell. Corolle also makes tons of accessories and outfits as well.

Re: American girl doll the bitty baby
My dd has both the Corelle mon primere doll as well as the American girl bitty baby. She received the Corelle doll when she was one and bitty baby at two. Once she got the bitty baby she never really played with the Corelle doll again. She will be six soon and still plays with the bitty baby. The Corelle doll is in the play room. I try to take it out to remind her of it, but it does not get played with. She loved it from 1-2 though. So my feeling is for long term play value, I would pick the bitty baby, but if you want something she will be able to hold and play with immediately, then get the Corelle.
