Relaxing Getaway Near Orlando (or drive further and go to Palm Beach)?
Hello!
DH will be traveling to Orlando Sunday - Friday for work in mid-December. We are planning to have me meet him down there to extend the trip for a long weekend. I would arrive Friday and we would fly home together on Monday late afternoon. My friends have raved about Palm Beach and I'd really like to stay at the Four Seasons there. DH will be renting a car for work that week. Would it be worth it to have him drive the 2.5 hours to Palm Beach and I fly directly to there or are there cities closer to Orlando that can provide a relaxing getaway for us? It would be a mini-trip to celebrate our 30th birthdays and our 5-year wedding anniversary. We've done Disney before and are really looking for a relaxing, romantic beach weekend away.
Any information you could provide would be greatly appreciated! TIA for your help!

There are some luxury hotels in Orlando that you could do:
The Ritz The Waldorf Astoria The Four Seasons
All look amazing
But no beach. If that is a deal breaker, then yes, he's have to drive a bit to meet you .
Also, the weather in Orlando in Dec is NOT beach or pool weather. I went for business once in Dec and it was 40 degrees and rainy/cold.
If you want summer like weather in Dec you;d have to go much further south like Miami. He can drive to Miami from Orlando...it's far but doable

We thought about Miami but being that it's a little longer of a drive than Palm Beach and we were hoping for a more low-key destination we thought against it. Still something to consider though!

We drove to Tampa/Clearwater Beach from Orlando earlier this year. I think it was less than 2 hours. Not bad at all. Clearwater Beach was great.

We stayed for free using points at Sheraton Sand Key. DH did not want to go on that trip at all and it was our compromise. The hotel had a lovely beach and the kids had a blast. It was one of the nicer Sheratons I have been to.

If it were my choice, I would have stayed at Sandpearl. Nervousnell has stayed there and raved about it.

YES! If you can afford a splurge you must do the Sandpearl. Perfection from start to finish I am not sure how the weather is there in December though, check the weather sites to see if it's warm enough for beach/pool

Thanks! I just checked the weather and the historical high for clearwater is 72 and it's 76 for palm beach. Ideally I'd like to stay at the Four Seasons in Palm Beach but I wonder if the weather will be beachy enough where it's worth splurging for that resort. The rooms at Sandpearl seem to be more reasonably priced when compared to FS. Hmm
