NSLIJ Manhasset vs New Hyde Park for Delivery...
Want sure of the best place to post this, so I hope this is ok! I delivered my son at LIJ in 2010 (in the old building - pre the new Katz Hospital). Not the best of experiences, and I ended up with a MRSA infection in my c-section incision.
I'm considering changing OB practices for our second child, and this practice delivers at North Shore-LIJ Manhasset. Despite my bad experience at LIJ in New Hyde Park/Lake Success, I was looking forward to the gorgeous new facility and all its amenities.
Anyone have experience with the Katz Building in Manhasset? Is it worth staying with my current ON just so I can deliver in LIJ's New Building?
PS - it's super confusing that both hospitals are named North Shore-LIJ and both womens hospitals are named Katz.

I can only speak for myself. The new Katz building is very clean, my c-section recovery so easy, but 9 months later, after talking to many people, I'm not entirely convinced I should have been induced. Loved the nursing staff.

Manhasset is beautiful too... Supposedly its Not quite as amazing as LIJ but I have a hard time believing it's not close. Hotel like, beautiful private rooms and huge private bathrooms. Great attentive staff. Had triplets there 3 years ago and had an amazing experience. I wish I can go back and stay there lol but not if it means having another baby!

I had a wonderful experience both times at North Shore Manhasset (what I call it so ppl know the difference LOL) The first time, I was there for 3 weeks, the second time just 4 days. Both times, I had great nurses, amazing aftercare., an unbeatable NICU and beautiful rooms with big huge showers and plenty of room Don't hesitate to ask for a room change if you feel crowded or you're in a weird end-room that you feel uncomfortable in. They did stick me in a tiny room with the twins th first time, and I changed to a huuuuuuuuge room within 2 hours. The second time, I just told them I had anxiety issues and claustrophobia (no I don't I just hate clutter and have a huuge italian family) and after I delivered, I waited an extra 4or 5 hours to get into a bigger room. They were nice about it (maybe because I was) I loved it there.

I don't have a basis of comparison, but I was very happy with north shore manhasset for delivery. Plus, my pediatricians have the visiting rights there, so they were able to check on my dd after she was born, which I liked.

Re: NSLIJ Manhasset vs New Hyde Park for Delivery...
I delivered my daughter in the old LIJ building in 2010, my son in the new building in 2013. Both C-sections.
I had a wonderful experience in the new hospital at LIJ. Very hotel-like. I loved having my own room. I didn't have that back in 2010 and it made a really big difference for my comfort level to room alone.
I like that the hospital is so close to Cohen's Children's Hospital. It really was my biggest decision for delivering there. Being an older Mom, I wanted the cushion of having emergency services available for my newborn if needed. Luckily, I didn't need it for either.
ETA: clarification of hospital ETA: I'd like to clarify that I didn't mean to insinuate that the PP base her choice of hospital just on the hospital. It was important for me, but my OB was affiliated with LIJ, so it was a no-brainer for me. However, there are plenty of wonderful OB's that do deliver at LIJ, if having Cohen's nearby is important for you. You absolutely want to be comfortable with your OB and have full trust in their care.

I would absolutely go based on the dr - both hospitals are very comparable.

Both hospitals are great, I personally delivered both times in Manhasset. Choose the doctor you want instead of the hospital.
Edit to add I agree with PP about not wanting to leave! Especially when I had my second I felt like I was on vacation!!

I delivered at Manhasset and loved it. They are both great, find a doctor you love and go where he/she delivers. If you have the option for both, I may lean toward NHP only because of the vicinity to Cohen's and I think it is slightly nicer (newer delivery rooms). But I think doctor is most important.

I actually delivered my first child at Winthrop. Had an ok experience but my dr was so amazing. I work in LIJ and I will say its gorgeous and the nursing care is great but for my second child my OB at the time delivered at North shore manhasset. (different OB than with my first) . I didn't care for this OB in the least (even tho so many on here rave about him) but my hospital experience was good . The lesson- go with OB not hospital.

I delivered at Manhasset No issues and the room was very nice. The staff was very nice and helpful. I went to visit a friend at LIJ and the room was very similar. I don't think you can go wrong with either place.
