Strong Beta and progesterone but no baby.
My last period was 6/16. I had a faint positive HPT on 7/14 and a solid positive on 7/20. I went in 8/4 for my initial visit. They said the sonogram looked abnormal so they sent me to Madonna for a better look. They also took blood work for progesterone and HCG/beta level. I went to Madonna on 8/5. Sonogram showed a sac with what they called a growth in it. This "growth" was getting blood supply but considered abnormal for 7 weeks. They said I was either much earlier than expected or having a miscarriage. I went back to the doctor 8/11 where they said my progesterone and HCG levels were great. The sonogram didn't show any change and the doctor stated he was still leaning towards a miscarriage. He went over my options of a DNC or letting my body take care of the miscarriage on its own. I stated that I did not want to do anything until I was 100% certain this pregnancy wasn't viable. They took more blood to see if my levels are going down. They called me 8/12 to tell me my levels are still rising significantly and they would do a follow up sonogram next week. I have a call into my doctor to get the exact HCG/beta levels but my progesterone was 19.6. I'm going to Madonna on Monday hoping they find a baby and heartbeat. Does anyone have any insight into this? Should I start preparing myself for the worst or keep hope?

I'm in a similar position. Numbers are quite high but no visible HB at 6 weeks. I've prepared myself and my DH for the worst. The sono is scheduled for next week too so, I just don't know. Best of luck to you!!!!

Follow with your OB. Could be anything from an early pregnancy to a miscarriage to a molar pregnancy.
Wishing you the best.

Re: Strong Beta and progesterone but no baby.
I went through something very similar when I was pregnant with my DD. With my first sonogram they couldn't find anything, not even a sac. The doctor told me I was probably miscarrying. She sent me for blood work to see if my hcg levels were rising, and they were. But I still was so scared and stressed until my next sonogram when the doctor finally found the baby growing. Its possible that your first sonogram was just too early. I think most doctors like to wait until around 8 weeks for that reason. I think my first sono was around 5 or 6 weeks because I hadn't realized I tend to ovulate a week or so later in my cycle than most women. I think that's heartless of your doctor to tell you to terminate the pregnancy without any definitive proof that something is wrong. You're right to wait another week or so for a follow up sonogram. You don't want to always have to wonder what if the doctor was wrong.

Never experienced this personally but I would say this is the reason most doctors don't want to see you until you're at least 8 weeks so there is no 'confusion' as they call it.
It could be several things going on such as your dates could be off, or it could be a molar pregnancy ( sorry to say but based on description it could be since the Sono was abnormal) .
See what happens at your follow up sono.
Good luck

Re: Strong Beta and progesterone but no baby.
Doctor said blighted ovum. I'm not convinced so i guess they call this denial. I'm going to schedule an appointment wroth a new doctor for 2 weeks from now. I should miscarry on my own by then if the diagnosis is correct. If not I'll definitely get a 100% answer by then.
