Looking to trade Spectra S2 for Medela Pump In Style
My insurance covered the Spectra S2 pump and after reading great reviews I ordered it but I'm now wishing I got the Medela Pump In Style. I have used it just a handful of times, but its a closed system. I'm planning to go back to work in a few weeks and wish that I had the bag to transport amongst other things (I think I need bigger flanges but they arent sold in stores). Is there anyone that wanted a Spectra but your insurance didnt cover it? I'd love to trade with you for your Medela. Figured I'd just throw it out there.

I used the medela with dd1 and using the spectra s2 with dd2 now. It is way way better. I get so much more, it doesn't hurt as much and it's closed to you prevent bacteria. Just sayin

See and I feel like I used to get more from my Medela when I pumped for DD1, although I think I need bigger flanges for the Spectra. I'm kicking myself for getting rid of my old Medela.
Re: the closed system, yes thats why I'm looking for a brand new Medela since its not a closed system.

If you do end up keeping the Spectra S2, you might consider ordering bigger flanges directly from the Spectra web site. I ordered a bunch of accessories/supplies from them (like skinny neck bottle adaptors to use with my old Medela bottles), and the shipping was quick.

Thanks, I was looking at their website...I didnt realize thats what those Skinny Neck Adaptors did, maybe I will just order some stuff to see if that helps me get more milk. Did you get the tote bag by any chance? I'm wondering if thats worth it. It doesnt show very detailed pictures on the website.

Using the correct flanges should help you get more milk (assuming the flanges are the problem). I bought a few sets of the skinny neck adapters because I saved all my old Medela bottles and Playtex Drop Ins bottles from my last 2 kids and have no interest in buying wide neck bottles. I didn't bother with the tote because I'm planning on using the cooling bag and Medela bottles that came with my old PISA. I agree with you that their web site isn't very detailed in the accessories section. I only learned about the skinny neck adapters by reading reviews and comments on Amazon's web site, even though Amazon doesn't sell the skinny neck adapters.

SHAPLA79 - Did you order flanges? Is the "single kit" just one flange? And the double is 2 flanges? I know that seems obvious but why would anyone just need 1 flange? And $46 for a pair of flanges?? How annoying!

Look up the spectra medela hack. There's a way to get the medela parts to fit the spectra.
