Overnight getaway?
DH and I both have September birthdays about 2 weeks apart. Rather than buying each other gifts, we were thinking about going away overnight for the first time since DD was born (she'll be 4 months soon and my parents would happily watch her). Can anyone recommend a romantic overnight getaway? Looking for somewhere no more than a 2 hour drive since we'd just be there for a night. Somewhere relaxing with good restaurants! Thanks!

Re: Overnight getaway?
I am not a gambler but I love Mohegan Sun. Beautiful hotel. GREAT restaurants and a variety. Nice bars and lounges. Awesome spa Indoor pool Some shopping too
When we go we usually dont' even gamble at all
It's so relaxing.
We also take the Orient Ferry so the ride out east is beatuiful and the ferry is so relaxing.

Great idea! How far is the drive to Mohegan once you get off the ferry?

Ugh yes. We usually go during the week because they run packages etc. They are so overpriced unless you are a high roller that is. Which I most certainly am not!

Re: Overnight getaway?
We have stayed at Hotel Indigo in Riverhead 3 times now. We love it. Clean rooms and a great restaurant with a good bar and delicious food. The walls are thin and the beds aren't the most comfortable but I would def recommend it. We bring our own pillow and blankets (we are picky though). It's so close so you get more time relaxing and less time driving.

This!! DH and I did an overnight at Mohegan and we had SO much fun!! We took the Orient Point ferry which is a beautiful drive out east, we saw a concert, had a few great meals, and just relaxed. It was such a nice trip, I highly recommend it!!

Also, keep an eye out on Groupon, I've seen deals on there for Mohegan every now and again.

Re: Overnight getaway?
Whenever we go to Mohegan we stay at the Hyatt Place which at is less than a mile away. If you have AAA you also get a discount. I think last time we went was less than $200.00 a night. They offered shuttle services to/from the casino on the weekend.
by the way on our we found 2 great outlets right off the highway in CT. don't remember the name. one of them I think was tanger. you can google outlets in CT and should come up.
if you end up in Riverhead at Hotel Indigo. they have great vineyards and LIV (long island vodka). also Briermere farms is close by... delicious pies!
have fun!

Overnight getaway?
DH and I went to Crystal Springs Resort in Jersey for an overnight getaway this year. we did a couples massage, they have an indoor pool, balcony room with a fire place, they did marshmallow roasts in their common area fire pit. It was really nice. next year if we get to do another overnight we may try Mohegan Sun but i really enjoyed crystal Springs.
