Anyone familiar w/ Waxhaw/Weddington in NC?
Considering a move, although I am not certain it makes sense for us!
Please let me know if you are familiar!
How are the schools? My kids are still in nursery! Are these schools just as good as your average Nassau Co. School district? Not Jericho, syosstet, etc. wondering how they would compare to Wantagh, Seaford, Massapequa, something along those lines.
I am also looking on city data but find many people on there to be very defensive when NYers ask these types of things! Lol
Thanks

I used to live in that area. I came from suffolk so can not compare the schools. But will say they are good schools. I moved in 2007, middle of 10th grade.

My best friend lives in and teaches in Weddington, great area, great schools. She moved her family from here to down there and they have never been happier.

THat's a great area with very good schools. It's too far from Uptown for DH so we leave further north but it's a great area. We live in Harrisburg NC, also a great area (number 41 on the list of great small towns to live in the country) BUT going through a lot a change right now so non-stop construction and a lot more traffic than every before . Ive only heard of great thing about Waxhaw and Weddington. Waxhaw has a little downtown area too which is so nice imo.

My sister and her family just moved to Weddington a year ago. They love it and have had nothing but good things to say. The schools in Weddington are great. My niece just started 3rd grade, and nephew just started kindergarten. My sister did say something about a lot of re-zoning that has happened in recent years, and I believe she said that in some areas of Waxhaw the schools are great, but other schools don't rate as high. If you have other questions about the area, etc., I could certainly ask her for you!

Thanks! How long is his commute to uptown? Harrisburg was also on my list!
Can you please recommend a nice subdivision? Preferably new construction, but open to existing to get a certain location and home size!

Thanks! I received some nasty responses on City Data, lol, so I will probably post some more questions here!

I have family that has lived in Waxhaw for the last 15 years. They love the area. They do not have school age children, but I know the schools are supposed to be good.

THere is a lot of new housing construction going on right now in Harrisburg but I would be careful because they are not all built well. Brookdale Commons is one I would stay away from. Litchfield Village is nice but small lots. People seem happy in Abbington. My favorite is a neighborhood built up a few years ago, Bradford Park but they are pretty expensive. We live in Rocky River Crossing, built maybe 15 years ago. House size and lot size vary in my neighborhood and there is a lot up in the air with possible school rezoning so I don't know that I would recommend buying anything here until it settles down. My husband's commute is probably 25 minutes?
