You Tube or Make Up Counters
So basically I have been using tinted moisturizer, bronzer and mascara as my make up routine for about 5 years - maybe some eye shadow on a special night. I always envy seeing other women who look so polished when they are out. I look tired when I look at myself in the mirror. So I have decided to take control. I ordered a bunch of stuff on sephora and nordstrom this weekend and started to watch some you tube tutorials but they scare me more than anything as they use sooooo many products and there are brushes for everything. I just ordered the beauty blender thingy...not sure if its any good.
SO what do you suggest - watch the tutorials until I finally get it? if so do you have any recommendations for ones that you like on you tube OR should I go to a sephora counter and ask for a make over and watch what they do?
TIA

Re: You Tube or Make Up Counters
I would do both. Unless you are a super-fast learner, getting a makeover won't make you an instant expert, but it may give you some tips that you'll remember better b/c you saw them done in person.
When you watch videos, search for one that say " for beginners". You don't need as many thing s as YouTubers have. Yes, a beauty blender is probably a good investment, but YouTubers get a lot of these things sent to them for free & some like to show different options every time they do a tutorial, to appear to people who have or are interested in buying certain things.
I watch a lot of You Tube videos. These are some people I like. Do you have something in particular you are looking to learn. I might be able to recommend a specific video later tonight.

yes- my main tip is not not go too smokey at first. (it doesn't have to be mostly black) It looks crazy on me.
I will try & post a few of my favorite videos tonight. A lot of people are posting them now, b/c the Urban Decay Naked Smokey palette just came out, so you can search those too.

Re: You Tube or Make Up Counters
I like Lisa Eldridge - thanks!! I feel like I am clueless but am determined to learn a few tricks and up my game - its amazing to me how much make up can change a persons face!!I also need to buy brushes as I only have a bronzer brush. I guess it wont seem as intimidating if I take one step at a time.

She is great. Glad you like her. Pinterest can also help- sometimes looking at picture tutorials is easier.
Another person I forgot to mention is Cara from MaskCara. She is a blogger, and occasionally does videos. She is pretty good at simplifying things.
Here is a 2 part blog post on make up essentials (she is promoting her own products too, but even without that it gives you an idea, including brushes.
MakeUp Capsule Part 1 MakeUp Capsule part 2
Her eyeshadow school posts are also very helpful. and from that series, here is her smokey eye post.
and here is a good video for beginner tips
