How far apart are your kids
Is a 6.5/7 year difference bad? My 1st would be 6.5/7 years older than the new baby (god willing I get pg soon) My 2nd would be 5.5/6 years older than a new baby.
Please tell me it's not unreasonable.

Nothing is unreasonable! if it works for you, it works for you. If you want another baby, don't stop yourself just because of the age of your current kids. You can't change their ages. Just go for it!

I can tell you in February how that age difference is!
DS- 7 in December DD1- 5.5 DD2- will be 2 in December
I'm due end of February and my kids are very excited for the baby. I do think my last 2 will be run around more than the first 2, bc of extra curricular activities for the older ones, but my almost 2 year old loves it and is very easy going, hoping #4 is similar lol.

How far apart are your kids
My two kids are 7.5 years apart. It works for us, though I must say you kind of have to have thick skin to deal with the insensitive comments from thoughtless lunks... comments like, "wow. Different dads?" or "wow, that's a big gap. You're crazy to start all over again!" or "why on earth did you wait so long in between?" or "oh, did you adopt one?"
People - total strangers! - seriously will ask whatever floats through their mind at any point in time. I used to get annoyed. Now I make up wild stories to shut them up... like the time the cashier at Stop and Shop asked if they have the same dads (they do, but really!?!?! Who asks that kind of question????) I looked at her with a confused look and said, "um, I'm really not sure..." Then I kind of looked up in thought and started muttering, "I mean, there was that one time in prison with the guard... and then there was that one time with that john in the parking lot for 20 bucks... I guess it could have been either one of those. Or, there was that other time...." and I started to walk away, still muttering in thought. I thought my husband was going to wet his pants lol. But then again, I have a friend with kids that are just about one year apart and she got grief for that, people telling her she was crazy, asking if she was on food stamps, etc. People just have no boundaries lol.
But back to the age difference. It really does work for us. Not gonna lie... my daughter was horrified at the thought of a sibling lol... until he was born. Now, they adore each other (most of the time lol) And she is so, so, so helpful with him.
Like you, I worried too. I was worried that it would be awful, that they would never bond, that it would be too late for them to ever be close.
None of that was true and I wouldn't change a thing now! I also realized that regardless of age difference, you can't predict how siblings will react to each other.
You can message me if you ever want to talk!

Re: How far apart are your kids
I don't think there is any "bad" age gap, all families are different. I have a coworker who is 10 years younger than the next youngest sibling and she is close with all of her siblings. I also think its nice that your dc will be older and able to help out, and plus dc will be in school during the day so you will get to have 1 on 1 time with the baby.

Re: How far apart are your kids
I have a 5,4 and 5m old. My first 2 are only 14m apart so that was rough. I love that the first 2 are much older then the baby.
I was 9 and my brother was 7 eye our youngest brother was born. Everything was fine and now we are very close

Re: How far apart are your kids
I'm the youngest.
My brother is six years older than me.
My sister is ten years older than me.
I'm inseparable with both of them, always have been. So, doesn't matter!

Honestly, I think each age diff has pros and cons. If you want another baby and your dh is on the same page go for it

Re: How far apart are your kids
Exactly 4.5 yrs apart.
I really didn't want kids that far apart when we were planning for #2 BUT things don't always go according to plan. That being the case, I've said many times, I think it was actually a blessing in disguise. It was so much easier bringing home a baby with a 4.5 yr old in the house. She was a huge help instead of a pain in the butt. My DD and DS are 7 and 2.5 now and they are BEST buddies. They do everything together, they adore each other, and although they have their moments they really are crazy about one another.
I wouldn't let a bigger age gap discourage you from having more kids. Adding to a family is a wonderful thing no matter how man years are between the kids.

How far apart are your kids
3 years. Like pp, it was a nice gap. Older DS helps out :)
I would maybe have another. Maybe. I'm not sure but I think I'm at that place where if it happens, ok. If not, ok. But it would be in 3-years. And then there'd be a bigger gap. But whatever. You do what u want. :)

How far apart are your kids
My youngest brother and I are 7 years apart. The gap between my husband and his sisters is 4, 7, and 10 years. My son is 4 and we're not financially ready for another, so the gap is going to be large with our two when the time comes.
Every family is different. Nothing is one size fits all.

totally agree, we don't plan on having more but if that changed it wouldn't matter to me what the age gap was

Re: How far apart are your kids
My dd1 is 8, dd2 is 6.5, and dd3 is 2. I would like to have another in spring 2017...they would then be 10, 8.5, almost 4 and a newborn. I can't worry about what other people think...we're just doing what works and feels right for us.

How far apart are your kids
My brother and I are 5 yrs apart. We never seemed to be able to be on even ground until I was in College. There were a number of different reasons for that, not because of our age difference. My 2 boys are 16 months apart and if all goes accordingly, DDS#2 and #3 will be 3 yrs apart. I agree with what others have said, age doesnt matter. MPO is if they are raised to value their place in one anothers life, that will determine how close they will be.

Re: How far apart are your kids
I have large gaps. Always had a babysitter, lol
my DD's are 29, 20 and 8.
My 29 year old has a 2 year old so its funny to have a 8 year old aunt.

How far apart are your kids
My sister and I are just about 8 years apart, and I would never do it myself. Growing up I was expected to be a mini mother, and I was aware of anything I had to miss out on. Even as my sister got older and was a teen, I was expected to drive her places.
Jmo, but coming from someone who experienced it, it was rough.

Re: How far apart are your kids
DD and DS are 2 yrs 12 days apart. I had a miscarriage in between and the age difference would have been about 20 mos apart.
DH and I are older so that played a huge role in how quickly and close together we have our children. If we decide on a third, it will probably be around the same age spacing and that will be it for us,

ITA! Don't let that stop you if you want another baby! I think you will have great helpers! My older two are 4 and 2 and it's not easy keeping baby #3 safe, lol.
